The Dallas Cowboys’ 2026 draft haul already has people thinking ahead, and one early 2027 mock is pointing them toward a familiar kind of answer on offense.
Dallas used its first-round pick on Caleb Downs, a player expected to step in right away as a starter and a key piece of Christian Parker’s rebuilt secondary. The Cowboys also added UCF pass rusher Malachi Lawrence with their second pick and linebacker Jaishawn Barham on Day 2, giving the class a chance to make noise early in their rookie seasons.
But with training camp approaching and attention already drifting toward the next draft cycle, Pro Football Network’s latest 2027 mock has Dallas going in a different direction. The projection has the Cowboys selecting Indiana wide receiver Charlie Becker, a name that makes sense because of the uncertainty around George Pickens’ future in Dallas.
Becker brings a big frame at 6-foot-4 and 204 pounds, along with a projected 4.48-second 40-yard dash. He’s built as a vertical threat, averaging 20 yards per catch, but he’s not just a runway receiver. The source says he had zero drops on 17 contested catches during Indiana’s championship run, showing he can win in traffic too.
If Pickens is gone, the fit is obvious on paper. Pair Becker with CeeDee Lamb, and Dallas could again have a dangerous duo on the outside.
Becker’s sophomore season backed up the buzz. He finished with 34 catches for 679 yards and four touchdowns, and he took full advantage when Elijah Sarratt was injured. His biggest moments came when Indiana needed them most, including a 100-yard performance in the Big Ten Championship against Ohio State and a season-high seven catches for 118 yards against Penn State.
He also delivered during the Hoosiers’ playoff run, catching touchdowns against Alabama and Oregon and reinforcing his reputation as a legitimate deep threat.
Still, the Cowboys’ first-round path isn’t locked in. If Pickens leaves or Dallas moves on from him, Becker would be a strong candidate to slide into that role opposite Lamb. And if Ryan Flournoy puts together another strong season, the team could choose a different direction when next spring arrives.
