Cowboys Had A Game-Changing Break In Green Bay Then Everything Flipped

A contentious call overturns a Dallas touchdown, leading to a pivotal momentum swing in Green Bay's favor.

For a brief stretch Sunday night, Dallas had the kind of break that can change everything.

Dee Winters picked off Jordan Love, popped back up and sprinted to the end zone. The Cowboys were trailing 7-0, and it looked as if the defense had just delivered the exact jolt they needed: a touchdown, a reset, a shot to tie the game.

Replay took it away. Winters was ruled down by contact, which erased the score and left Dallas with the ball at Green Bay’s 42-yard line.

The takeaway still counted, and the Cowboys still had a clean chance to turn it into points. What followed became the moment that swung a 23-13 loss.

Dallas did part of the job right away. CeeDee Lamb hauled in a difficult 16-yard catch on third-and-three, pushing the Cowboys into the red zone. Even without the defensive touchdown, they were set up to come away with something meaningful and put the pressure right back on Green Bay.

Then it fell apart.

Green Bay linebacker Zaire Franklin came free on a delayed blitz and hit Dak Prescott hard. On the next snap, Prescott went back to Lamb on third-and-eight, and safety Evan Williams jumped the throwing lane for an interception. A sequence that started with the possibility of a defensive touchdown ended with Dallas not even getting a field-goal try.

That’s the part that hurt most for the Cowboys. They had already done the hard work by forcing a turnover and moving into scoring range.

There was no need to force anything. They just needed to cash in the chance they had created.

Instead, Green Bay seized the momentum and kept Dallas’ defense out there for a long stretch. The Packers went on a 15-play, 73-yard march that lasted more than eight minutes and finished with a field goal for a 10-0 lead. What could have been a tie game had become a two-score hole, and Dallas had not put any points on the board.

The Cowboys’ next possession made the miss even more painful. A holding penalty on Ryan Flournoy erased a productive Tyler Goodson run, and Prescott threw another interception after Lamb slipped on his route. Green Bay answered with a touchdown drive and took a 17-0 lead into halftime.

The overturned Winters touchdown will get the headlines, and rightfully so. But Dallas still had the ball, decent field position and a real chance to answer.

The play that mattered most was the interception that came after it. On a night when scoring was already hard to come by, the Cowboys couldn’t afford to waste that opening.

That was the turning point.

Cowboys Depth Chart Hints At A Linebacker Shakeup Before Eagles Game

The Cowboys unofficial depth chart ahead of their Week 7 primetime meeting with the Eagles offered a small but telling glimpse at how the defense may be lining up for a key NFC East test. Rookie edge rusher Malachi Lawrence is still listed as a backup even after starting last week, but the bigger attention-grabber comes at linebacker, where Dallas appears to be sorting through a fresh mix of options.

Jaishawn Barhams rise on the chart suggests the rookie has earned a real look in the middle of the defense, while DeMarvion Overshown is expected to come back and settle into the other linebacker spot. For a unit trying to find the right combination before facing Philadelphia, that kind of reshuffling is worth watching closely, even if the final game-day setup is still a step away. [Read more 🡒]

Cowboys Eagles Is Getting Mocked For All The Wrong Reasons

Monday Night Football is still set to feature the Cowboys and Eagles, but the buzz around the matchup has been far different from the usual rivalry buildup. Both teams have struggled this season, and the reaction online has leaned more sarcastic than anticipatory, with fans questioning whether this is the kind of game that should be carrying a national window.

The frustration has not changed the schedule, and there is no indication the league is considering any switch or cancellation. For Dallas, it is still another chance to find some traction in a season that has fallen short of expectations, even if the spotlight arriving in prime time feels more like a punchline than a showcase. Cowboys Eagles Just Turned A Primetime Showcase Into A Leaguewide Joke

A once-coveted Monday Night Football slot has turned into a reminder of how quickly the NFLs marquee matchups can lose their shine. The Cowboys and Eagles are set to meet in primetime despite both teams stumbling through disappointing seasons, and the reaction online has been blunt, with plenty of fans questioning why this game earned such a stage in the first place.

Social media has done what social media does best, turning the matchup into a punch line and floating everything from alternate broadcast ideas to outright criticism of the leagues scheduling choices. Still, the game is on the board, and there has been no sign the NFL plans to move off it or do anything to ease the blow for viewers hoping for a more compelling national showcase. [Read more 🡒]
