A Rams insider called Davante Adams “virtually uncoverable” after a joint practice, but a Cowboys reporter wasn’t buying it.
The original claim came from Nate Atkins, as relayed by Underdog NFL: “Davante Adams was “virtually uncoverable” in joint practice against Cowboys and Saints, per @NateAtkins_”
Joseph Hoyt pushed back hard on X, pointing to what he said he saw at the time: “As we reported at the time: it looked like a true joint practice with both the Rams offense and the Cowboys’ defense making plays, including this near INT by Shavon Revel against Davante Adams. So yeah, this is a stretch.”
That’s where the insider back-and-forth stands for now. The Cowboys won’t have to wait long to make their own statement, either. They open Week 1 against the Giants, and receiver Malik Nabers is expected to be back on the field, according to Sports Illustrated.
“Nabers is recovering from a torn ACL, but appears to be back on track for Week 1 after shedding his red no-contact jersey during Monday's practice,” Josh Sanchez wrote. “Barring a setback, it appears Nabers will be on the field.”
Giants head coach John Harbaugh didn’t fully commit to Nabers playing against Dallas, but he sounded encouraged when asked about it, according to ESPN.
“I just don't want to make any kinds of statements like that,” Harbaugh said. “I think it's reasonable to assume that.
Those are all kind of things you can assume based on watching the guy practice. But the only thing I know more than you guys know is what the doctors and trainers tell me as far as his rehab.
And that is he's doing well.”
Dallas, meanwhile, is looking to put its new-look defense on display right away. Christian Parker is in as the new coordinator, and the expected starting secondary features Caleb Downs, DaRon Bland, Cobie Durant, Jalen Thompson, and Malik Hooker.
