CeeDee Lamb’s quiet night in the Dallas Cowboys’ 28-20 loss to the New York Giants turned into something bigger once his postgame comments hit the internet.
The Cowboys opened the season with a frustrating defeat at MetLife Stadium on Sunday night, and Lamb’s stat line matched the tone of the night: five catches on eight targets for 44 yards. He also had a visible moment of frustration after dropping a wide-open pass in the second quarter.
But it was his answer in the postgame press conference that really set off Cowboys fans. After a reporter pointed out that Dallas had only two offensive possessions in the entire second half, Lamb seemed genuinely surprised.
“Oh, I ain’t know that. That’s crazy. Good to know,” Lamb said.
That reaction quickly became a flashpoint for an angry fan base already steamed about the result. Social media lit up with criticism of the star receiver, with one fan writing, “This ni-a don’t give a damn he just like clothes and h-s,” while another said, “Once that boy caught that fade, the result of the game did not matter to him, not in the slightest,”

And the backlash didn’t stop there. Another fan posted, “Trade his a- a d the entire fucking team.
Done with this shit show 35 years and counting, what a f-king joke,” while one more added, “This guy makes millions of dollars. Think about that”
The loss itself was a team-wide mess for Dallas. Dak Prescott finished 22-of-34 for 175 yards with two touchdowns and one interception, and head coach Brian Schottenheimer said afterward that the outcome heavily “humbled” the team.
The Cowboys’ defense couldn’t slow the Giants down in the second half, either. New York held the ball for more than 36 minutes and piled up 394 total yards. Jaxson Dart carved up the secondary for three touchdowns, and the Giants kept control of the game from there.
Dallas now has to clean it up fast, with the Washington Commanders coming to town next week.
