CeeDee Lamb’s day after the Dallas Cowboys’ 37-20 win over the Washington Commanders ended with a familiar NFL annoyance: a drug test.
Lamb was everywhere in Dallas’ first victory of the regular season, piling up eight catches for 153 yards and two touchdowns as Dak Prescott guided the Cowboys to a bounce-back win and set the franchise record for career touchdown passes. But before Lamb could really soak in the result, he was reportedly “summoned for a drug test” by the league, according to Patrik Walker of DallasCowboys.com.
Walker even caught Lamb on video as he headed toward the locker room, with the receiver saying “drug test” out loud while walking through the doors.
The timing wasn’t exactly shocking given how dominant Lamb was in Week 2. He had nearly 100 receiving yards in the first half alone and capped the performance with two scoring grabs, including the record-setting touchdown from Prescott. It was the kind of outing that makes the league take notice fast.
And this isn’t the first time Lamb has dealt with that kind of postgame interruption after a huge showing. Following Dallas’ win over the Detroit Lions at the end of the 2023 season, he was also hit with a random drug test after turning in a massive performance. In that game, Lamb caught 13 passes for 227 yards and a touchdown, highlighted by a 92-yard score on Dallas’ second drive of the night.
While the drug test became the immediate talking point, Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer focused on something more important: the connection between Prescott and Lamb.
"They spend a lot of time together, man," Schottenheimer said. "They've thrown a lot of balls together, and you know it was really great to see Dak break the record at home to CeeDee. ... He and CeeDee have played a lot of football together, and it was really cool to see those two guys connect."
Lamb’s strong start comes after an injury-plagued 2024 season that cost him three games. Even with that setback, he still finished with 75 catches for 1,077 yards and three touchdowns.

Cowboys Secondary Just Took Another Hit At The Worst Time
The Cowboys left Week 2 with a win over Washington, but the secondary took another hit in the process. Cornerback Cobie Durant came out with a hamstring strain, and safety P.J. Brian Schottenheimer said both players are expected to miss multiple weeks, though Stephen Jones indicated neither is expected to land on injured reserve.
