CeeDee Lamb Praises Former Cowboys Coach McCarthy's Surprising New Role

CeeDee Lamb applauds former Cowboys coach Mike McCarthys move to the Steelers, reflecting on his impactful mentorship and dynamic coaching style.

The Pittsburgh Steelers made a bold move in January, bringing Mike McCarthy on board as their new head coach. McCarthy steps into the shoes of Mike Tomlin, who left a lasting legacy after 19 years at the helm. McCarthy's previous stint with the Dallas Cowboys, from 2020 to 2024, showcased his ability to lead and innovate.

Recently, Cowboys star receiver CeeDee Lamb shared some heartfelt thoughts on the "Ross Tucker Podcast," highlighting McCarthy's impact. Lamb's admiration was clear as he praised McCarthy's infectious energy and vision for the game.

"He loves Pittsburgh. That’s my man.

I love Mike,” Lamb said. “He’s a great time.

As soon as you walk in the building, you’re going to feel his energy, and you’re going to feel what he wants to do. He wants to go vertical with the ball.

… That’s (a) guy I would run through a wall for. Mike did a great job developing me during my first five years in the league, and I knew what to prepare for going forward.”

Under McCarthy's guidance, Lamb thrived, earning five Pro Bowl selections. Now, the big question is how McCarthy will translate his success to the Steelers, a team hungry for a fresh start.

During his tenure with the Cowboys, McCarthy led the team to two NFC East titles, amassing a 49-35 regular-season record. Despite a challenging 1-3 postseason run, his time in Dallas was marked by competitive play.

However, the Cowboys decided to part ways with McCarthy in January 2025, opting for Brian Schottenheimer as his successor. Schottenheimer's debut season saw the Cowboys finish 7-9-1, missing the playoffs.

As McCarthy embarks on this new chapter with Pittsburgh, fans and analysts alike are eager to see how his Super Bowl-winning pedigree will influence the Steelers' future.
