CeeDee Lamb Injury Scare Leaves Cowboys Fans Watching His Week 6 Role

CeeDee Lamb's return from injury could be pivotal for the Cowboys' offensive strategy as they prepare to tackle the Packers' strong defense in Week 6.

CeeDee Lamb looks set to be back in full for Sunday night.

The Dallas Cowboys receiver, who left the Week 5 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a thigh injury before returning for a two-point conversion attempt late in the game, was able to practice during the week leading into the matchup with the Green Bay Packers. He’s officially off the injury report for Week 6, and according to The Athletic’s Jon Machota, he is not expected to be limited.

That’s an encouraging development for Dallas, especially with the offense leaning heavily on Lamb to keep pace. The Cowboys’ defense has been a mess through five games, ranking 32nd in both EPA/Play and success rate, which has pushed the offense into shootouts all season.

Lamb has been right at the center of it. Through five games, he has 39 catches on 51 targets for 507 yards and four touchdowns. The one real quiet outing came last week against Tampa Bay, when he finished with just two receptions on five targets and played a season-low 56.7 percent of the snaps.

That’s why his Week 6 availability matters not just for Dallas, but for the betting market too. Lamb has been getting volume all season, averaging more than 10 targets and nearly eight catches per game.

He’s been targeted eight or more times in four of five games, and he has at least seven receptions in Weeks 2, 3 and 4. Week 4 was the explosion game: 17 catches on 21 targets.

Even with Green Bay ranking fourth in the NFL in EPA/Pass, there’s reason to trust Lamb in this spot. The Packers have seen some inconsistent quarterback play from Carson Wentz, Geno Smith, Jalon Daniels, Tyson Bagent/Case Keenum and Michael Penix Jr., which makes that ranking feel a little less intimidating than it looks on paper.

The expectation here is simple: Dak Prescott and Lamb should be connected early and often, and Lamb’s track record says he can win this matchup regardless of who’s across from him. With the star receiver back on track, the plus-money receptions angle stands out in Week 6.

Cowboys May Be Rethinking Caleb Downs At The Worst Time

The Cowboys are heading into their next game against the Green Bay Packers with a notable adjustment in mind for rookie Caleb Downs, with the staff looking at using him differently and potentially sliding him back toward his original spot near the line of scrimmage. It is the kind of tweak that can say as much about where a defense is right now as it does about the player himself, and Dallas is making it with several contributors still sidelined by injuries.

Mike Pettines arrival as a senior defensive assistant adds another layer to the situation, giving the Cowboys another experienced voice as they sort through the latest version of their defensive puzzle. Elsewhere, the roster churn continues to be felt too, with Joe Milton having been signed off Dallas practice squad by the Philadelphia Eagles and now set to face his former team in an upcoming game. Cowboys Hit With Another Distraction Days Before Packers Game

With the Packers game looming, the Cowboys are dealing with another bit of fallout from their Week 5 win over Tampa Bay. The NFL announced its official disciplinary decisions and fined defensive lineman Otito Ogbonnia $11,111 for a facemask penalty tied to unnecessary roughness in the second quarter against the Buccaneers.

The play cost Dallas a 15-yard penalty and an automatic first down for Tampa Bay, adding a little more irritation to a game already full of physical edge. It is the kind of detail that does not change the upcoming matchup on its own, but it does underscore how quickly the margins can become part of the conversation for a team trying to keep its focus on Green Bay. Former Cowboys Punters Tragic Death Brought An Emotional Family Reflection

Former NFL punter Kasey Redferns death has left a heavy mark on the football community, and for Cowboys fans it adds another somber note to a career that briefly ran through Dallas and several other NFL stops. Redfern, a Wofford product, spent time with the Jaguars, Chargers, Panthers, Browns, Lions, Cowboys and Falcons, a reminder of how many locker rooms he touched during his journey through the league.

Lauryl Redfern had shared updates as he battled brain cancer, offering a window into a fight that had become deeply personal for the family. His passing closes a difficult chapter, but it also underscores how quickly a players NFL story can become something much bigger than football, especially when the people closest to him are left carrying both the memories and the grief.
