Cardinals Fans Have Every Reason To Watch This Josh Sweat Buzz

With the Cowboys' defense still showing weaknesses, Jerry Jones seems poised to seize the opportunity to bring in pass rusher Josh Sweat, a move that could solidify the team's defensive front.

Jerry Jones has already made a point of attacking the Dallas Cowboys’ defense this year, and the work hasn’t stopped. He brought in Christian Parker as the new defensive coordinator, then opened the season with six new starters on that side of the ball.

He also kept his foot on the gas once the regular season arrived. Jones said he wasn’t finished making moves, then backed it up by trading for cornerback Joey Porter Jr.

Porter made a strong first impression in Week 4, but Dallas still gave up 30 points. The offense was good enough to cover it, yet the defense remains a clear area that needs more help.

That’s why the Cowboys could be in the market again, especially with Stephen Jones recently signaling that the team is still open for business. If Dallas wants a real difference-maker, Josh Sweat is the name that jumps out.

Adam Schefter recently brought up Sweat as a trade candidate while appearing on The Pat McAfee Show, saying the idea has been floating around "for a while," and noting that more losses could push Arizona toward a deal.

"Josh Sweat, like, that's been going on with him for a while now. The idea that he could be dealt and, you know, if Arizona loses some games here, maybe they could get an attractive enough pick that they would be willing to deal him. A big-time pass rusher who had 12 sacks last year," Schefter said.

The appeal for Dallas goes beyond the production. Sweat isn’t the kind of acquisition that forces the Cowboys to start over again a year later. That has mattered lately, since recent additions like Porter and George Pickens have arrived needing new contracts.

Sweat is already locked into a four-year, $76 million deal with the Cardinals, signed in 2025. There is a possible out before the 2027 season, but Dallas could keep him under team control through the 2028 campaign if it wanted to.

There’s also a built-in connection that makes the fit even cleaner. Parker worked in 2024 as the passing game coordinator and defensive backs coach for the Philadelphia Eagles, where Sweat was one of the team’s top pass-rushers.

Sweat finished that season with eight sacks before heading to Arizona in 2025. Parker already knows exactly how he fits the system, and he’s seen him succeed in it. For a Cowboys team still searching for answers on defense, that makes this trade feel like one Jerry Jones should have a hard time passing up.

Cowboys Pass Rush Problems Could Revive A Reunion Fans Never Expected

Four games into the 2026 season, the Cowboys pass rush has not produced the kind of pressure this defense needs, with just four sacks so far. That kind of slow start tends to get teams looking for outside help, and Bleacher Reports Kristopher Knox has already floated a familiar name as a possible fix: Jadeveon Clowney, now with the Texans, who are also sitting at 0-4.

The idea is not exactly new in Dallas, since the Cowboys have shown interest in Clowney before, but the fit is where the conversation gets tricky. Under Christian Parker, the defense has its own structure and demands, and there are real questions about how well Clowney would slot into it if the Cowboys decided to explore a trade market that suddenly feels more urgent than expected. Jerry Jones Just Put Pressure On Two New Cowboys To Deliver

The Cowboys latest additions from Pittsburgh arrive with the kind of built-in urgency that follows any move for young, talented players on rookie deals. Jerry Jones made clear the club is not treating contract talks as the immediate priority, which puts the spotlight squarely on George Pickens and Joey Porter Jr. to show they can help right away. Pickens has 225 yards and no touchdowns this season, while Porter is just getting started in Dallas after missing time because of injury.

For a team that has spent plenty of time talking about expectations, the message is simple enough: production comes first, and everything else comes later. Jones suggested any future negotiations will be shaped by how both players perform and how the team fares, so these early weeks matter. Pickens has to turn volume into impact, and Porter has to build on a delayed debut, because the Cowboys are making it clear that both newcomers will have to earn their next conversation. Cowboys Stole This Rivalry Win In A Way Texans Fans Will Hate

The Cowboys walked out of NRG Stadium with a 34-30 rivalry win over the Texans, and it came with the kind of late-game finish that tends to linger in this series. Dak Prescott found CeeDee Lamb for the touchdown that sealed it, a sequence that let Dallas leave Houston with bragging rights after a tight night in front of a split crowd feel.

Even before the final score settled in, the game had already drawn attention for a different reason when Instagram influencer Ene, better known as @truly.ene, went viral for her custom Houston Texans outfit. The look added another layer to a matchup that already had plenty of edge, and it turned the night into one of those crossover sports moments where the football result and the scene around it both got people talking.
