Blue Jackets Bring A Hometown Favorite Into Game Night

A new collaboration between the Columbus Blue Jackets and Johnsons Real Ice Cream brings locally-inspired sweet treats to fans at Nationwide Arena for the 2026-27 NHL season.

The Columbus Blue Jackets are adding a familiar Central Ohio name to the mix for the 2026-27 season, announcing a new partnership with Johnson’s Real Ice Cream that makes the longtime local company a Proud Partner of the club.

For Johnson’s, it’s a first: the company has never before teamed up with a professional sports team. The collaboration links two homegrown organizations with deep Central Ohio roots and, as the team put it, a shared bond with the fans and families who make the area home.

Johnson’s has been around for more than 75 years, tracing its start to a first shop in Bexley in 1950. It has grown into a fourth-generation, family-owned operation with 11 locations across the area, including Nationwide Arena. The company has built its reputation on family-recipe flavors, neighborhood ice cream shops and the kind of places people return to again and again.

“This is one of those partnerships that just make sense,” said Ryan Shirk, Blue Jackets Vice President of Corporate Partnerships. “Both the Blue Jackets and Johnson’s Real Ice Cream are proud to be in the Central Ohio community and share a passion for bringing people together.

Johnson’s has been a beloved local favorite for generations, and we’re excited to welcome them to the Blue Jackets family. Together, we’ll deliver a unique, and delicious, game-day experience.”

That game-day experience will show up throughout Nationwide Arena during Blue Jackets home games. Johnson’s products will be available at three spots on the Main and Upper Concourses, plus a specialty freezer on the Club Level. Fans will be able to grab a range of handcrafted favorites, including classic scoop flavors, ice cream sandwiches and other signature treats.

The partnership also comes with two Blue Jackets-specific items. One is the Blue Line Ice Cream Bar, a vanilla ice cream bar dipped in chocolate and shaped like a hockey puck, with a hockey stick handle. The other is Cannonball Crunch, a new flavor built from Johnson’s REAL Vanilla Ice Cream mixed with OREO™ cookie pieces, toffee, chocolate chips and sprinkles.

“We’re really looking forward to what this partnership can bring,” said Matt Wilcoxon, President of Johnson’s Real Ice Cream. “There’s something special about being part of the energy at Nationwide Arena and creating a new way for fans to experience Johnson’s. We’re excited to have some fun with it, introduce a few new offerings and be part of Blue Jackets game nights in a way we think fans are really going to enjoy.”

The Blue Jackets said the partnership will keep growing through the season, with more chances for fans to enjoy Johnson’s inside and outside Nationwide Arena.

Columbus opens its 2026-27 regular season at Nationwide Arena on Thursday, Oct. 1, with Opening Night, presented by Nationwide. Single-game tickets for home games at Nationwide Arena are on sale now at www.BlueJackets.com and www.Ticketmaster.com.

Jeff Rimer's Return Gives Blue Jackets Fans A Reason To Feel Again

Jeff Rimer is back in Columbus in a different role these days, but the longtime Blue Jackets broadcaster still carries the same easy familiarity for fans who grew up hearing his voice around the club. He has released a memoir, It Doesnt Get Any Better Than This, tracing a broadcasting career that crossed multiple sports and seasons, and hell mark the books arrival with public signings in Columbus along with a private launch event at Nationwide Arena.

For Blue Jackets supporters, Rimers return is less about nostalgia than continuity, a reminder of the people who helped frame the franchises story from the start. He still follows the team closely and remains hopeful that a playoff breakthrough is somewhere ahead, which gives the book tour a little extra resonance for a fan base that knows his voice as well as any in the building. Monsters Promo Schedule Gives Blue Jackets Fans Plenty To Circle

The Cleveland Monsters have lined up a 2026-27 schedule that gives hockey fans plenty of dates to circle, starting with their 20th home opener on Oct. 2 at Rocket Arena against the Grand Rapids Griffins. Beyond the opener, the AHL calendar is packed with specialty jersey nights, giveaway events, family-focused game days, community drives and select Fridays with discounted concessions, the kind of mix that has long made the Monsters one of the more visible winter draws in the region.

There is also a bigger spotlight coming later in the season, with Rocket Arena set to host a marquee league event in early February. Between that and a season full of themed promotions, the Monsters are clearly trying to make 2026-27 feel like more than just another AHL campaign, and the details now have Blue Jackets fans watching closely for the biggest dates still to come. Adam Fantilli Has Become A Real Blue Jackets Camp Concern

Contract talks around Adam Fantilli have become one of the quieter but more noticeable items on the Blue Jackets pre-camp docket. While other young players around the league are closing in on deals or sorting out their next steps, Columbus still has a meaningful divide to bridge with its restricted free-agent center, even as the club and coach continue to project that the matter will eventually get done.

The timing, though, is what gives the situation some extra edge. Columbus is set to report for physicals on Wednesday and hit the ice on Thursday, and the last thing either side wants is for Fantilli to be left watching early camp unfold from the sideline. For a team that expects him to be a central piece of its future, every day of delay adds a little more attention to a process that still has a ways to go. [Read more 🡒]
