Ethan Holliday Stuns Critics With Bold Move for Colorado Rockies

Ethan Holliday, a top MLB prospect and son of a baseball legend, responds to mounting pressures with poise and determination, highlighting his focus on personal growth over critics' opinions.

Ethan Holliday is making waves, and not just because of his famous last name. As the younger son of seven-time All-Star Matt Holliday and brother to Orioles infielder Jackson Holliday, expectations are sky-high.

But Ethan seems unfazed by the pressure. Over the weekend, the 19-year-old Colorado Rockies prospect showcased his talent during the Spring Breakout game against the Arizona Diamondbacks, cracking a two-run double to right-center in the first inning.

Despite the Rockies falling 11-3 to the Diamondbacks, Ethan's performance was a bright spot. When asked if he felt he'd silenced his critics, he confidently stated, “Those opinions don’t matter to me.

I’m not playing for their approval. It’s all about the team and winning games.”

Holliday's mature perspective is refreshing. He knows that fan opinions will swing with his performance, but he's focused on honing his skills day by day.

“The same people criticizing will applaud today’s game,” he noted. “If I go 0-4 tomorrow, they’ll have something to say.

It’s a constant cycle, so I focus on every pitch and the process.”

Drafted fourth overall by the Rockies in 2025, Ethan is currently ranked No. 24 among MLB's top 100 prospects. He's expected to start the season with the Fresno Grizzlies in the California League. As he continues to develop, Rockies fans have plenty to be excited about with this young shortstop.
