Colorado's center fielder, Brenton Doyle, had a standout performance as the Rockies clinched their first Cactus League victory. Doyle wasted no time, singling to right on the game's first pitch.
He then delivered a bases-loaded double in his second at-bat, driving in three runs off a hanging changeup from D'backs pitcher Zane Russell. Doyle capped off his day with another double to left field, taking advantage of a cutter left over the plate by Alfred Morillo.
In Colorado's 11-6 win over Arizona, there were plenty of highlights:
- Rockies starter Tanner Gordon was impressive, striking out three in his lone inning while allowing just one hit.
- Second baseman Adael Amador, vying for a starting role, launched Colorado's first home run of the spring, a 374-foot shot off Morillo.
- Infielder Ryan Ritter contributed with a 2-for-2 performance, including a double, two RBIs, and two runs scored.
- No. 14 prospect Gabriel Hughes pitched two solid innings, giving up one unearned run on one hit and striking out two.
- No. 2 prospect Charlie Condon, starting in right field, went 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored, bouncing back from a hit-by-pitch in yesterday's game.
- No. 13 prospect Carson Palmquist delivered a scoreless seventh inning, allowing one walk and striking out one.
The Rockies' offense came alive with 13 hits, a stark contrast to their previous game where they managed just three.
Colorado is set to continue their spring campaign tomorrow afternoon at 1:05 PM MST against the Texas Rangers. Fans will be eager to see if the team can maintain this momentum.
