Rhule Accuses Fan Of Verbally Attacking Young Daughter

Nebraska coach Matt Rhule stands firm in the face of personal attacks, prioritizing his family's well-being as the team navigates a rough season.

Matt Rhule is drawing a hard line after Nebraska’s latest loss, and he’s doing it with his family front and center.

Following the Huskers’ 17-10 defeat to Washington on Saturday, Rhule said a fan confronted his 13-year-old daughter and hurled profanity at her because of her father’s job. The Nebraska coach did not hide how serious that crossed-the-line moment felt.

"A guy walked up to my 13-year-old daughter and was like, 'F-U and F your dad.' I'm not going to keep coaching if it means my kids grow up screwed up," Rhule said, according to The Athletic's Mitch Sherman.

The outburst came in the middle of a rough slide for Nebraska, which started the year 5-0 and has since dropped three straight Big Ten games. The Huskers fell to No.

7 Indiana and Oregon before Saturday’s loss to Washington, another painful finish in a stretch that has left the program searching for answers. No matter how anyone can try to frame it, there have been no late-game heroics for the Huskers.

In all three losses, Nebraska had a fourth-quarter lead. That detail has only sharpened the frustration around the team as the season has turned.

Rhule made it clear he has no plans to walk away from the job.

"I'm not leaving. I'm not quitting. I'm fighting for those people," Rhule said about his players.

The schedule doesn’t offer much relief. Nebraska returns Friday to face Illinois in Champaign, then closes with Rutgers, Ohio State and Iowa over the final month. For a team that once looked like it was building momentum in the Big Ten, even reaching a bowl game now looks like a difficult climb.

Colorado Recruiting Stability Faces Its Biggest Test Yet

Colorados rough five-game skid this fall naturally stirred up questions about Deion Sanders long-term grip on the program, but the recruiting picture has held up better than the on-field results. The Buffaloes 2027 class has taken only one hit so far and still sits at 20 commitments, a sign that the early foundation of the class has not cracked the way outsiders might have expected during a difficult stretch.

Sanders has continued to stay in regular contact with those recruits as the early signing period approaches, trying to keep the class steady through the noise. For Colorado, that matters because the next wave of talent is supposed to be the bridge between the current turbulence and whatever comes next, and for now the staff still believes the group is in strong shape. Deion Sanders Just Raised A Bigger Colorado Question Before Arizona State

Deion Sanders had a little of everything to say before Colorados meeting with Arizona State, and most of it was encouraging. He pointed to one of the teams best practices of the season on Tuesday, said he stays in regular contact with recruits in the 2027 class, and offered a positive update on quarterback Julian Lewis after a recent medical emergency.

The more immediate football news, though, centered on the backfield, where Richard Young appears to have earned another start after his strong showing. Sanders did not go deep into the quarterback situation or recruiting specifics, but the tone of the presser suggested a program getting healthier, sharper and a bit more settled at a time when the Buffs could use all three. Colorados Bowl Push Runs Through An Arizona State Twist

Colorados path to staying in the Big 12 bowl picture runs through a tricky trip to Mountain America Stadium, where Arizona State brings a young but increasingly settled offense into Saturdays matchup. The Sun Devils are leaning on freshmen at quarterback and running back, with Jake Fette making his second start and Cardae Mack seeing a bigger share of the workload as the season moves along.

There is also a familiar face on the other sideline in former Colorado receiver Omarion Miller, now part of Arizona States roster. And while head coach Kenny Dillingham has had to navigate questions about external coaching vacancy chatter, his focus has stayed on the game in front of him, with Colorado offering a chance to sharpen the Sun Devils own Big 12 standing while complicating the Buffaloes bowl push.
