Boulder Buzz: Farrakhan Jr. Learns from Colorado's New Wave

In his second spring with the Colorado Buffaloes, sophomore wide receiver Quanell Farrakhan Jr. is soaking up wisdom like a sponge from the influx of seasoned newcomers in his position group.

"I'm just looking up to the older guys and really seeing what they do," Farrakhan shared after the team's seventh spring practice. "They play a big role in shaping my vision here at Colorado. I'm learning from them and absorbing everything they do on the field."

The Buffaloes have welcomed some experienced transfers, including Danny Scudero from San Jose State, DeAndre Moore Jr. from Texas, Kam Perry from Miami OH, and Ernest Campbell from Sacramento State. These players have brought their successful track records and are now sharing their insights with the younger talents.

Wide receivers coach Jason Phillips emphasized the importance of adding proven performers through the transfer portal. "We brought in some guys with production," Phillips explained.

"Danny was the nation's leading receiver last year. DeAndre Moore knows what success looks like.

Ernest Campbell joined with coach Brennan Marion, and Kam Perry also brings a wealth of understanding. These guys know what we're talking about."

Farrakhan has already noticed a transformation within the team. "Things really have changed," he noted.

"This team has gelled in the way it needs to. I feel like we're going to dominate next season."

While Farrakhan's role for the upcoming season remains uncertain, his freshman year saw him appear in 10 games, recording one catch for 17 yards. This spring, he's focused on refining his route-running skills.

"My route-running, getting open, and creating separation from the DBs," Farrakhan said. "That way, I can make an impact when I'm on the field."

Phillips is eager for Farrakhan to continue embracing guidance, whether from the coaching staff or seasoned teammates. "He's got to keep working on his game," Phillips stated. "He needs to take coaching, apply the technical stuff we're teaching, and become the player we know he can be."

With a blend of youthful enthusiasm and seasoned mentorship, Farrakhan is poised to make his mark on the Buffaloes' promising future.
