Colorado football is heading south for the first week of preseason camp.
For the second time since Deion Sanders took over, the Buffs will move fall camp off campus, this time setting up at Fountain-Fort Carson High School in the Colorado Springs metro area. The team will use the campus of the University of Colorado Colorado Springs as its home base for the week.
The trip is scheduled to begin Aug. 2, with Colorado returning to Boulder on Aug. 8. Unlike the 2024 stop at Denver’s All-City Stadium, these practices will not be open to the public.
CU athletic director Fernando Lovo said Sanders and his staff first raised the idea of taking camp somewhere else when he arrived.
"When I first got here, Coach Prime and his staff actually came to me and spoke a little bit about wanting to go somewhere for training camp," CU athletic director Fernando Lovo said. "When you talk about building that brotherhood and that trust, I think that's a big part of it.
We explored a couple of different options, and I give all the credit to our football staff. They identified Colorado Springs, which is obviously big for us.
We have a big footprint down there.
"For us to be able to take the show on the road for a week to engage a constituency down there, that's really important to us. Not just for athletics, but really for our entire enterprise here at CU and CU Boulder. It's really exciting, and I'm looking forward to it."

Deion Sanders is taking the Buffaloes somewhere a little different to open training camp in 2026, with Colorado set to spend its first week in Colorado Springs instead of Boulder.
