EA Sports is putting Deion Sanders front and center in College Football 27, and the timing makes the move stand out.

EA’s push makes sense on one level. College football gamers don’t just want to run up scores; plenty of them want the whole coaching experience, from recruiting to play-calling. Still, Sanders is a choice that will get attention. He has long been one of the sport’s most recognizable figures, with a playing career that included both the NFL and a brief run in Major League Baseball in the early 1990s. Flash, style and a polarizing presence have always come with the package.
His coaching path brought even more headlines. Sanders took over at Jackson State and brought in his son, Shedeur, along with top national recruiting prospect Travis Hunter. He went 27-6 in three seasons there before making the jump to Colorado.
That first season in Boulder was the high point so far. Sanders overhauled the roster, then led Colorado to a 9-4 record in 2024 while Hunter won the Heisman Trophy and Shedeur Sanders became an NFL Draft pick. At that moment, Sanders’ profile was as high as ever.
