The Colorado Buffaloes are doing fall camp a little differently this year.
Instead of opening training camp in Boulder, Deion Sanders and his team will spend their first week in Colorado Springs, with the program teaming up with the University of Colorado Colorado Springs and Fountain-Fort Carson High School. The Buffaloes will be based at UCCS, while their daily practices will take place at the high school.
Camp begins Sunday, Aug. 2, as Colorado starts its 2026 fall work ahead of the upcoming season. The practices themselves will be closed to the public, but the program has lined up several chances for the media to hear from coaches and players during the stay in Colorado Springs.
Those media sessions are scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 4, Wednesday, Aug. 5, and Thursday, Aug. 6, with the players and coaches to be announced later.
Closed practices are standard across college football at this point, especially when staffs are trying to install new schemes and sort out the roster without outside eyes on every rep. Even so, those interviews should give reporters a steady stream of updates on how the team is developing, where position battles stand, and what expectations look like heading into another season that has already drawn plenty of attention.
Colorado has been one of the more talked-about teams this offseason because of its work in the transfer portal, recruiting, and the buzz around returning players. That means every camp update figures to be watched closely by fans.
After the Colorado Springs portion of camp ends, the Buffaloes will head back to Boulder on Aug. 8 and turn fully toward the regular season opener.
That opener comes Sept. 3 against Georgia Tech at Bobby Dodd Stadium at Hyundai Field. The game will be televised nationally in primetime on ESPN, giving Colorado a chance to make an early statement against an ACC opponent.
From there, the Buffaloes return home for their Sept. 12 matchup with Weber State at Folsom Field, which will be the first chance for Colorado fans to see the team at home. After that, the Buffs will play two more road games to finish the first month of the season.
With camp nearly here and the opener not far behind, the wait is almost over for Colorado fans. The season is about to start moving fast, and the next nationally watched run for the Buffaloes is right around the corner.
