Colorado’s push for Tupelo High School running back Kylan Bobo is coming to a head on July 1, and the Buffaloes appear to be in a strong spot as they try to finish another busy summer recruiting stretch.
Deion Sanders’ program has already stacked up several notable wins over the past two months. In May, Colorado landed four-star safety Gabe Jenkins and former South Carolina commit Jaiden Kelly-Murray, another four-star. June brought another headline move when Ole Miss pledge Coderro McDaniel flipped to the Buffaloes.
Now Bobo is the next name drawing attention. The three-star back is set to announce his decision in the afternoon on July 1, and On3/Rivals’ prediction machine gives Colorado a 98.8 percent chance to land him. Still, two other schools remain in the mix.
One of them is Arkansas, the SEC option in the race. The Razorbacks have been on a recruiting roll during their transition to Ryan Silverfield as head coach, and they already have 23 verbal commits in the 2027 class.
That group includes three-star running back Jeremiah Dent from nearby Marion. Even with Dent already in the fold, Silverfield has kept pressing for Bobo because his offense is built around using two backs.
The other finalist is Memphis, Silverfield’s former program, now led by ex-Marshall coach Charles Huff. The Tigers bring a different kind of selling point: a track record of producing backs. Tony Pollard, Antonio Gibson, Kenneth Gainwell and De'Angelo Williams all came through Memphis before making their mark.
Colorado, though, has its own pitch, and Bobo already got a close look at it. He visited Boulder during the weekend of June 8, and the Buffaloes have stayed on him since.
The biggest draw on Colorado’s side is Brennan Marion’s offense. The new offensive coordinator brings his “Go-Go” system to Boulder, a setup that leans into multiple running backs, sidecar looks and other unusual formations. Marion’s background includes work as a running backs coach, along with a long history of developing wide receivers, and his offense is built around a physical downhill run game with explosive play-action concepts.
There’s also a simple roster angle working in Colorado’s favor. The Buffaloes still need running back help in the 2027 class, and Bobo could fill that spot. Colorado briefly added unranked Florida running back Steven Alexis earlier in June, but Alexis flipped to Illinois just nine days later.
If Colorado closes the deal, Bobo would give the Buffaloes 19 commits in the class.
