CU Buffs Stun Kansas State With Late-Season Resurgence

Colorado's men's basketball team continues their impressive late-season surge with a strategic victory over Kansas State, showcasing strong performances and decisive runs.

The Colorado Buffaloes are wrapping up their Big 12 campaign with a flourish, showcasing a newfound resilience at home. While it's too late in the season for a significant climb up the conference standings, the Buffs are certainly building some momentum.

In an impressive display, Colorado secured their fourth straight home victory by fending off Kansas State with a 79-70 win. The Buffs dominated with two explosive runs-a 16-0 burst in the first half and a 17-0 surge in the second-that left the Wildcats struggling to keep pace.

The first half saw Colorado unleash a 29-7 run, catapulting them to a 19-point lead. Kansas State, however, clawed back to narrow the gap to 42-33 by halftime.

The Wildcats continued their push, scoring the first four points of the second half to trim the lead to five. But the Buffs answered emphatically with a 17-point spree, widening the gap to 22 points.

Kansas State wasn't about to go quietly, though. They mounted a 15-2 run, closing in with a six-point possession that brought them within three points with just over two minutes left. Yet, Colorado's Isaiah Johnson proved clutch, sinking 3-of-4 free throws while Bangot Dak and Sebastian Rancik delivered crucial blocked shots to secure the win.

Johnson led the Buffs with 18 points, flirting with a triple-double by adding nine rebounds and seven assists. Freshman Ian Inman was on fire from beyond the arc, hitting five 3-pointers on his way to a season-high 17 points. Barrington Hargress also chipped in with 15 points, contributing to a well-rounded team effort.

This win marks a key moment for the Buffs, as they continue to build confidence and showcase their potential in the closing stages of the season.
