Colorado’s quarterback board for the 2028 class keeps getting more interesting, and the latest name to surface is one of the fastest climbers in the country.
On July 30, Virginia quarterback Anthony Turner announced on his X account that Colorado had offered him, with the post citing both Deion Sanders and offensive coordinator Brennan Marion. Turner is part of the 2028 cycle and has quickly become a major target for the Buffaloes.
Marion’s presence matters here. He previously coached at William and Mary and still has ties to the DMV area, which includes Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia. That connection gives Colorado another foothold in a region that continues to produce talent.
Turner is a 6-5 dual-threat prospect who is still growing into his frame, but the production is already there. At Landstown High School in Virginia Beach, he put up 2,613 total yards and scored 25 touchdowns, including five on the ground.
The buzz around him is real. Turner is already ranked by 247Sports as the top overall recruit in Virginia for the 2028 class, and he’s nearing 20 scholarship offers before his junior season even begins.
What stands out on film is the arm. Turner can drive the ball deep, fit throws between defenders and put enough arc on his passes to drop them softly into a receiver’s hands. He’s also been described as having one of the strongest arms in the class.
Colorado’s interest in Turner fits a bigger pattern. The Buffaloes are clearly treating quarterback as a priority in 2028, especially with projected 2026 starter Julian Lewis set to become eligible for the NFL Draft by then. Colorado also needs future depth behind current four-star verbal pledge Andre Adams.
Turner is not the only 2028 quarterback on Colorado’s radar, according to 247Sports. The list includes Hudson Price of Calvary Baptist Academy in Shreveport, Louisiana, who picked up his first Power Four offer from Colorado in May 2026 and told Lorenzo Reyna of Colorado Buffaloes on SI that he loved what Colorado and Sanders did for Shedeur Sanders plus is energized to see how Lewis fares this season.
The Buffaloes are also after in-state quarterback Theodore Lee of Centennial High, who received his offer on July 23. Lee, like Turner, is listed at 6-5.
Other targets include Cayden Dixon of Briarcrest Christian High in Memphis, Tennessee, who got his Colorado offer on May 27 and later added an offer from Baylor after a June 20 camp appearance in Waco; Ayden Edwards of Tustin High in Orange County, California, who received his CU offer on May 14; and Titus Huard of Valor Christian, whose offer came on Feb. 1. Huard’s father is former NFL quarterback Brock Huard.
Among the quarterbacks Colorado is pursuing in the next cycle, Turner stands out at the top. His current 91 rating from 247Sports makes him the highest-rated quarterback on the Buffaloes’ board, and his size, mobility and arm strength fit what Marion wants to run in the future. If Colorado can land him, it would give the Buffaloes a major early boost in their 2028 class.

Colorado Fixed A Lot This Offseason But One Weakness Still Lingers
Colorados offseason overhaul was hard to miss after a disappointing 2025 season, with the Buffaloes making meaningful upgrades across much of the roster before heading into 2026 fall camp. The biggest gains came at wide receiver, running back, cornerback, linebacker and safety, giving the staff far more reasons to feel better about the overall balance of the team than it had a year ago.
Even so, the rebuild did not touch every concern equally. Quarterback and tight end only saw modest improvement, which leaves a familiar question hanging over the offense as camp opens.
