Colorado QB Concerns Make Andre Adams Look Even More Important

With Colorado's current quarterback struggles overshadowing their season, four-star recruit Andre Adams shines a hopeful light for the Buffaloes' future.

Colorado’s quarterback future got a jolt this week, and it came from a familiar name for Buffaloes fans who have been waiting for someone in that room to grab the spotlight.

Class of 2027 commit Andre Adams put together the kind of performance that makes it easy to picture him fitting into Brennan Marion’s “Go-Go” offense down the line. The Antioch High standout in Tennessee led his team to a 34-31 win over Franklin Road Academy on Oct. 8, and he did it in dramatic fashion.

Adams finished the game-winning drive by throwing a 15-yard touchdown to his younger brother, Aeden Adams. The sequence before that mattered just as much: Antioch needed two fourth-down conversions to keep the march alive and set up the winner.

He also put up the kind of all-around stat line that turns heads. Adams passed for 392 yards and three touchdowns, while adding 67 rushing yards and another score on the ground. He entered the game with 14 touchdowns and just one interception, along with 487 rushing yards and two touchdowns, according to MaxPreps.

The biggest moment may have been his fourth-and-10 conversion, when he powered through contact and dragged defenders with him for a 22-yard gain. As The Tennessean’s Jack Williams wrote, “.

For Colorado, Adams’ showing is the kind of glimpse that matters because the current quarterback situation has been rocky. The Buffaloes have already played three different quarterbacks, and none has settled the position.

Julian Lewis had an uneven first live outing in the “Go-Go” system against Georgia Tech, then helped Colorado win 14-13 by engineering the final drive and finding Charlie Williams for a 20-yard go-ahead touchdown. He later went over 300 passing yards against Weber State, but the turnover issues and inconsistency showed up again against Northwestern and Baylor.

Isaac Wilson provided a quick spark against Texas Tech by leading the opening scoring drive, but he also turned it over four times, including a pick-six inside his own end zone. That performance made Wilson the latest Colorado quarterback to draw criticism after the game.

Now the Buffaloes head into the bye week looking for cleaner play when they return, and the challenge won’t get any softer. No. 13 Utah and the Big 12’s best scoring defense are next.

Colorado Let A Big Chance Slip In Costly Four Set Loss

Colorado had a chance to leave Tempe with a statement win after taking the opening set from No. 11 Arizona State, but the Buffaloes could not hold the edge at Desert Financial Arena. The Sun Devils responded by claiming the next three sets, handing No. 23 Colorado a four-set loss that dropped it to 10-4 overall and 2-3 in conference play.

Even in defeat, there were a couple of noteworthy individual moments for the Buffaloes. Peyton Neal reached 1,000 career digs, a milestone that speaks to her steady value on the back line, while Jenna Ylivainio turned in one of her most active all-around matches with a career-best block total and her fifth double-double of the season. For Colorado, though, the bigger issue was letting a promising start slip away against a ranked opponent it had already pushed to the edge. [Read more 🡒]

BYU Just Took A Big Hit Before A Crucial Stretch

BYUs offense is heading into a tough stretch without one of its most important backfield pieces. Running back LJ Martin went down with a lower-body injury against TCU, and the early outlook leaves the Cougars preparing to get by without him for a while as they line up for a crucial run of games.

Martin is expected to miss the upcoming matchup with Notre Dame and several others, which puts more of the burden on quarterback Bear Bachmeier and the rest of the offense to keep the rushing attack moving. For a BYU team trying to navigate a demanding stretch, the absence is a significant setback and one that could force a noticeable shift in how it attacks defenses. [Read more 🡒]

Colorados Rebounding Hopes May Come Down To One Frontcourt Return

David Gomez is back on the floor with Colorado after missing the summer and the early part of preseason practice, a significant development for a Buffaloes team looking for more size and toughness on the glass. The Charlotte transfer was slowed by a foot injury, but his return gives coach Tad Boyle another frontcourt body to work with as Colorado tries to reshape its rebounding rotation around a group that also includes other transfer additions.

Gomezs presence matters because the Buffaloes do not need just another big man, they need one who can stay available and help steady a frontcourt that has been pieced together. Last seasons injury troubles limited his time on the court, and Colorado is clearly hoping the version it gets now is one that can finally settle in and give the team the physical presence it has been seeking.
