Colorado May Be Missing A Key Receiving Hope Again Vs Utah

Danny Scudero's lingering foot injury poses a significant challenge for the Colorado Buffaloes' offensive strategy as they prepare to face Utah.

Danny Scudero’s first season at Colorado still hasn’t found its footing, and the latest update from Deion Sanders suggests the Buffaloes may have to keep waiting.

Sanders said on Oct. 13 that the transfer receiver is still working through the foot injury that has slowed him since the start of the year, and he wasn’t ready to guarantee Scudero would be available against No. 11 Utah.

"He's worked his butt off to get back. And he wants to come back with all of his faith and might.

Slowly and surely, he's coming. But I don't know if it's this week," Sanders said.

That leaves Scudero in a murky spot heading into the Utah game, with the possibility of an “or” designation on the depth chart or a questionable tag when the Big 12 injury updates are released.

Colorado brought Scudero in expecting him to help jump-start an offense that has struggled to find consistency. Instead, the wideout has been limited by the same foot issue that was supposed to benefit from the Oct. 10 bye week.

Through five games, Scudero has just five catches for 24 yards. Even when he has been on the field, the production has been minimal, which is a far cry from the version of Scudero Colorado thought it was getting.

That mattered because he arrived in Boulder with real buzz. The San Jose State transfer led the NCAA in receiving yardage in 2025, and Colorado clearly hoped he could give the passing game a much-needed lift under Brennan Marion, the former NFL receiver who now runs the offense.

Marion’s résumé with wideouts is part of why Scudero’s slow start stands out. Xavier Worthy and Jordan Whittington were among the names who flashed during Marion’s Texas stint. Jordan Addison put together his All-American season with Marion on the Pitt staff, and Ricky White became a back-to-back 1,000-yard receiver at UNLA with Marion involved.

Right now, though, Colorado is still waiting for Scudero to resemble the players the Buffaloes believed they were getting.

The offense as a whole hasn’t helped his case. Colorado enters the post-bye stretch ranked 122nd in total offense among 138 FBS teams. The passing game has been better, though, sitting 49th nationally at 253.4 yards per game.

There have been flashes. The Buffaloes moved the ball well on their opening drive against Texas Tech before quarterback Isaac Wilson and the offense went cold and turned the ball over four times against the Red Raiders.

Sanders confirmed Wilson will start against Utah, which makes Scudero’s status even more important. For now, though, the receiver’s return remains uncertain, and Colorado may have to line up against the Utes without him.

Yukiko Ikedo Gives Colorado A Needed Singles Boost At Regionals

Rain pushed the ITA Mountain Regional Championship qualifier indoors at the University of Utah, but Yukiko Ikedo kept Colorado moving in the right direction. The Buffaloes player won two singles matches to reach the main draw, giving the program a timely lift as it continues its push to put players into both the singles and doubles national fields.

Ikedos run included a tight finish in the qualifier before she punched her ticket through to the next stage, and now the focus shifts to the main draw and a first-round meeting with a Nevada opponent. For Colorado, having one more player still alive in the regional bracket matters, especially with national qualification still very much in play. [Read more 🡒]

Colorado Opens Tough Road Swing With Big 12 Momentum At Stake

No. 25 Colorado heads into a difficult Big 12 road swing Wednesday night at Hilton Coliseum, where the Buffs will face Iowa State with momentum and conference positioning both on the line. Colorado has been playing with the kind of edge that makes October road matches meaningful, and this one arrives after a hard-fought result that showed how much this team can lean on its depth when the pressure rises.

Iowa State brings its own challenges under Christy Johnson-Lynch, with junior libero Rachel Van Gorp and junior setter Ava Martin helping steady the Cyclones in the back row and in transition. For Colorado, the task is clear enough: handle the environment, stay sharp away from home and keep building on the recent stretch that has put the Buffs in a strong spot as the Big 12 race tightens. Colorado Fans Are Watching One Family Weekend Decision Much Closer

Family Weekend is shaping up to be a busy one around Boulder, with Deion Sanders already saying hes looking forward to seeing players families at the game against Utah. The matchup has also become one of the more interesting ticket watches on Colorados home schedule, because resale listings on marketplaces such as SeatGeek and TickPick have been coming in below the universitys own pricing, with costs still shifting depending on seat location and how many tickets are being bought together.

Utah is still the toughest draw on the remaining home slate, which helps explain why fans are tracking the market so closely. Even so, the gap between asking prices on resale sites and the official ticket options has made this one feel a little different from the others, especially with a crowd expected to include plenty of family members and a fan base eager to see how the weekend atmosphere matches the stakes on the field.
