Colorado Fans Can Feel The Pressure Building Around Isaac Wilson

Isaac Wilson candidly addresses offensive challenges as the Colorado Buffaloes seek answers during their bye week to halt their losing skid.

Isaac Wilson didn’t try to dodge the spotlight after Colorado’s 29-7 loss to then-No. 12 Texas Tech. He stepped up to the microphone and made it plain: the offense has a quarterback problem, and he put the blame on himself.

“First off, I’d like to take a lot of blame for [the offense stalling] throughout the drives,” Wilson said postgame. “We just need to play better altogether. One of the things is we just kept stalling out, and like I said, I take full blame on that … We’ve just got dogs all over the field, and I just can’t get it to them.”

That kind of self-assessment came after a rough night statistically. Wilson finished 26 of 44 for 290 yards, with one touchdown and three interceptions. His quarterback rating landed at 54.7, and the turnovers helped drag Colorado’s offense down in a game the Buffaloes were hanging around in until the final seven minutes.

Deion Sanders was less direct, but he didn’t exactly hide where he thinks the issue lies. He stopped short of naming Wilson or the quarterback room outright, though he made clear he sees one obvious trouble spot.

“We’ve got one glaring problem; you guys know what that is,” Sanders said postgame. “...

We’ve got to play better at one specific position. That’s it.”

The broader picture didn’t help Colorado’s case. The Buffaloes’ defense did its part for most of the afternoon, holding a Texas Tech offense that has been productive all season to just 15 points before the game slipped away in those last seven minutes. Wilson made sure that unit got its due.

“I’ve still got to apologize to them,” Wilson said. “They’re getting stops within our own 30-yard line.

They’re [denying] PATs and they’re just causing havoc. I’ve got to give them props … I go against them every day.

I know what kind of players they are. We’ve just got to step it up as an offense.”

Now Colorado heads into its bye week with plenty to sort through, and another quarterback change could be on the table after Wilson’s difficult first start in black and gold.

Deion Sanders Just Put Colorados Biggest Early Problem In Focus

Colorados early-season slide has turned what once looked like a promising start into a much harsher reality. The Buffaloes are sitting at 2-3 with a three-game losing streak, and the reasons are piling up fast: injuries, uneven execution and a quarterback situation that has not settled the way the staff needs it to. Even so, the defense has held up better than most of the rest of the roster, which only sharpens the contrast with an offense that has struggled to find any rhythm.

Deion Sanders has already put his finger on the bigger issue, and it goes beyond one bad half or one tough matchup. He has pointed to preparation, quarterback play and discipline, with Colorado leading the Big 12 in penalties and sitting at the bottom of the league in scoring and red-zone conversion. Those are the kinds of numbers that dont just explain a losing streak, they define the challenge in front of a team still trying to figure out who it wants to be. [Read more 🡒]

Joseph Williams Is Giving Colorado Something It Desperately Needs

Joseph Williams has become one of the most encouraging parts of Colorados offense over the past month, giving the Buffaloes a reliable target just as the unit has continued to search for stability. Over the last four weeks, he has piled up 30 catches for 431 yards and five touchdowns, production that has helped keep the passing game moving even as the team has worked through a quarterback change with Isaac Wilson now in the starting role.

His latest outing against Texas Tech was another reminder of how important he has become, with 10 receptions for 93 yards and a touchdown in a loss. For Colorado, Williams emergence is more than just a hot streak - it is a sign that the offense may have found a dependable playmaker at a time when it badly needs one. [Read more 🡒]

Arizona State Has A Big 12 Problem Fans Can't Ignore

The Big 12 remains a week-to-week grind, and Colorados narrow miss against Texas Tech fit right into that theme. The Buffaloes were right there in a game that came down to the smallest margins, showing enough offensive spark and defensive fight to leave the impression that they can hang with a lot of the leagues better teams if they clean up a few key moments.

Around the conference, Week 5 brought the same mix of close finishes, steady defensive stretches and uneven offensive stretches that keep the race unsettled. Houstons defense held up well, and several other teams either built momentum or saw it slip away, but Colorados performance stood out because it suggested progress without delivering the payoff, leaving the bigger question of how often that kind of near upset can turn into a win.
