Colorado football is adding a new layer to its game-day scene in 2026, and the centerpiece is Ralphie’s Road presented by Toyota, a free street party set up on Colorado Avenue outside the south end of Folsom Field.
The new setup is being billed as a first for CU Athletics. Fans in the area will have a large TV screen showing the day’s college football action, along with a DJ, food trucks, beverage vendors and interactive games for fans of all ages. It will also give people a chance to watch the team arrive before the game and catch a first look at Colorado’s live mascot Ralphie as her trailer heads toward the stadium.
"Game day at Folsom Field is an experience that fans have cherished for generations and I'm excited to elevate that incredible atmosphere with the addition of Ralphie's Road," said Fernando Lovo, CU Director of Athletics. "This all-inclusive new tradition is designed to bring all Buffs fans of all ages together to enjoy the splendor of one of college football's most spectacular destinations while ratcheting up excitement to cheer on the Buffs! With Ralphie's Road adding to our pre-existing tailgate traditions on Franklin Field and Chip's Kids Club, the pre-game experience at Folsom Field in 2026 promises to be better than ever."
Ralphie’s Road will open three hours before every home game and stay open until 30 minutes before kickoff. Team Arrival is also getting folded into the new space, while still including the old route through Franklin Field. Fans will be able to watch coaches and players head to the locker room about two and a half hours before kickoff, and Ralphie is scheduled to appear in the new tailgate area 90 minutes before game time as her trailer passes through on the way to her staging area inside the stadium.
The rest of CU’s pregame setup is staying in place, too. Chip’s Kids Club Presented by Children’s Hospital will return in its usual spot on Duane Field with games for children, and Franklin Field will again host the pre-game radio show featuring "Voice of the Buffs" Mark Johnson, while also remaining open for tailgating through the Buff Club.
Colorado opens the 2026 season on Sept. 3 at Georgia Tech in front of a national TV audience on ESPN, then comes back to Boulder for its home opener against Weber State on Sept. 12. Single-game tickets, season tickets and mini-plans are available now.

Before Colorado has even put its new look on the field, the Buffaloes are already drawing a harsh forecast from one of the sports more respected analytic voices. ESPNs Bill Connelly projects Deion Sanders team to finish last in the Big 12, a sign that even with a revamped roster and a fresh offensive direction, the outside skepticism has not gone away in Boulder.
The Buffs have added multiple transfers, including Gideon Lampron, Kam Perry, Danny Scudero and DeAndre Moore Jr., as Sanders and new offensive coordinator Brennan Marion try to build better cohesion and cleaner execution. There is talent in the mix, but the challenge now is turning those pieces into something that can move Colorado past the kind of expectations that leave little margin for error when the season gets going. Colorado May Have Found The Reset It Needed Before Georgia Tech
Colorados off-campus Week 1 fall camp appears to have done more than get the Buffaloes through the opening stretch of the season. Punter Damon Greaves said the move gave the team a chance to bond in a different setting, and the result was a better sense of how everyone fits together as the Buffs prepared for Georgia Tech.
Greaves pointed to the way the change of scenery helped players see different sides of their teammates and lift the overall energy around the group. For a Colorado team still settling into the rhythm of a new season, that kind of reset can matter just as much as anything on the practice field, especially with a tricky early test looming.
