Colorado's Dynamic Duo: Oh and Edson Shine in Big 12 Honors
In a standout season for the Colorado Buffaloes, sophomore goalkeeper Elena Oh and freshman attacker Rowan Edson have added more accolades to their impressive resumes. The Big 12 conference announced on Wednesday that both players have earned Player of the Week honors, marking the ninth and tenth such awards for Colorado this season.
Elena Oh, hailing from Chapel Hill, N.C., continues to dominate the field as she secures her fifth Goalkeeper of the Week honor this season. From March 4th to 25th, Oh achieved an impressive streak with four consecutive awards. This latest recognition adds to her career total, bringing her to nine Big 12 Goalkeeper of the Week awards.
In a recent matchup against UConn on March 18th, Oh was a fortress in the net, making nine crucial saves, snagging a ground ball, and even causing a turnover. Her stellar performance resulted in a .642 save percentage, allowing only five goals. Oh's stats are nothing short of remarkable, ranking her second in the NCAA for goals-against average at 6.22 and sixth for save percentage at .525.
Meanwhile, freshman Rowan Edson from Chappaqua, N.Y., is making waves of her own. She earned the Big 12 Freshman of the Week award, marking her first career weekly honor.
In Colorado's decisive 11-5 victory over UConn, Edson notched a career-high with three goals and a total of four points, achieving her first career hat trick. Her consistent performance is evident, having scored points in five games this season.
Looking ahead, the Buffaloes are set to face San Diego State in their Big 12 home opener at Prentup Field on Saturday, March 28th. Fans eager to catch the action can tune in on ESPN+ for the 12 p.m. MT start.
