Colorado is still in the hunt for another big receiver in the 2027 class, and Khalil Taylor has become the name to watch.
The Buffaloes already have momentum on the recruiting trail, with the 2027 group sitting No. 4 in the Big 12 and No. 42 nationally, per ON3. That class includes four-star Jaidon Kelly-Murray and three-star Ryan Ferdinand, and Colorado is now trying to add more pop to the perimeter.
Taylor, a four-star prospect from Pine-Richland High School in Pennsylvania, is drawing serious attention ahead of his July 6 commitment. Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong has Nebraska as the favorite to land him, but Colorado and Penn State remain in the mix.
The rankings back up why this one matters. Rivals lists Taylor as the No. 90 player in the country, the No. 17 player at his position and the No. 4 player in Pennsylvania. At 5-11 and 190 pounds, he brings enough size to go win contested balls, but his 2025 tape is what really stands out: speed, burst and the kind of downfield explosiveness that changes a drive in a hurry.
That profile fits what Colorado is trying to build under new offensive coordinator Brennan Marion. Marion has made his name blending a physical run game with space-based playmaking, and he’s leaned into “positionless football” to stress defenses and create mismatches.
Taylor’s skill set lines up cleanly with that approach. He could work outside, slide into the slot or even line up in the backfield, giving Colorado a chance to move him around and force defenders to chase him instead of keying on one spot. The idea is simple: get him in space and let him make plays.
Of course, any receiver’s ceiling is tied to the quarterback feeding him the ball. Colorado is expected to start redshirt freshman Julian Lewis next season, and Lewis has the kind of point guard-type skill set that could work well in Marion’s system.
