KeyBank is staying in the Avalanche family, and this time the relationship comes with a new title.
Kroenke Sports & Entertainment announced Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2026, that it has renewed its partnership with KeyBank for three years and elevated the bank to the role of exclusive Official Retail Bank Partner of the Colorado Avalanche. The deal keeps one of the team’s longest-running corporate partners in the fold while adding a fresh layer of branding around Ball Arena and beyond.
The biggest visible change is the KeyBank Ice Deck, the premium all-inclusive seating area on the glass that will now carry the bank’s name. The partnership also brings a new KeyBank Small Business Spotlight program, which will feature Colorado-based small businesses through Altitude Sports television and radio segments, digital coverage, and in-game elements at Ball Arena.
KeyBank will also serve as presenting sponsor for the next three regular-season home openers and the annual Avalanche Alumni Game at the University of Denver. Its logo will be placed at center ice beneath the Avalanche logo, and it will also appear on banners inside the Arena’s Grand Atrium west entrance.
“KeyBank is proud to return as the Official Retail Bank of the Colorado Avalanche, building on a relationship that dates back to the team's first puck drop 30 years ago,” said Chris Picardi, KeyBank Colorado Market President. “For three decades, we’ve been honored to serve Colorado families, businesses and communities while sharing in the excitement and pride Avs hockey brings to our state.
This partnership reflects our deep roots in Colorado and our ongoing commitment to investing in the places where we live and work. We are excited to begin this next chapter with the Avalanche and look forward to all we can accomplish together.”
KeyBank has been tied to the franchise since it arrived in Denver in 1995, a stretch that includes 1,428 wins and three Stanley Cup Championships. Last season, the bank was the presenting sponsor of the Avs Alley watch parties for the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
“KeyBank has been an exceptional partner of the Colorado Avalanche, sharing our commitment to excellence, innovation, and making a meaningful impact throughout our community,” said Lacy Ekert, Chief Commercial Officer at Kroenke Sports & Entertainment. “As we continue this longstanding relationship, we are excited to build on the strong foundation we've created together and deliver memorable experiences for our fans while supporting initiatives that strengthen Colorado. We are proud to extend and expand our partnership with KeyBank and look forward to the continued success we will achieve together.”
The bank marked its bicentennial in 2025, celebrating 200 years since the Commercial Bank of Albany was founded in 1825. Today, KeyBank is headquartered in Cleveland and operates nearly 1,000 branches across 15 states. The company says its local banking approach includes services such as small business loans and low-down-payment mortgages.
The KeyBank Ice Deck includes eight all-inclusive tickets on the glass in the corner of the Avs’ attack-twice side. Availability can be checked at AvalanchePremium.com.
The Avalanche open the regular season at home Wednesday against the L.A. Kings.

Avalanche Just Made Their Commitment To Jared Bednar Crystal Clear
Jared Bednars place behind the Avalanche bench got a lot more secure this week, with Colorado signing its head coach to a four-year contract extension that will begin in the 2027-28 season. It is a clear endorsement of a coach who has already become the winningest in franchise history, both in the regular season and in the playoffs, and it comes as he prepares to enter his 11th season with the team.
For an organization that has spent years trying to stay in the NHLs upper tier, the move sends an unmistakable message about continuity and direction. Team president Joe Sakic and Bednar both struck a positive note about the extension and the future, but the bigger question now is how this long-term commitment will shape the next phase of Colorados push to keep contending. Avalanche Double Down On A Familiar Winner In Key Front Office Role
Andrew Coglianos rise inside the Avalanche organization keeps moving in a familiar direction. Colorado has promoted the former NHL forward to assistant general manager after he spent time as a special assistant to the general manager, a next-step move for a player who only recently finished a 17-year league career and ended it in Denver.
Coglianos path gives the Avalanche a front office voice with both recent locker room experience and a deep understanding of how the organization operates. He played for several NHL teams before joining Colorado, then helped the club win a Stanley Cup in the 2022-23 season, and now he takes on a bigger role as the Avalanche continue leaning on people who know firsthand what it takes to succeed there. Avalanche Just Made Their Faith In Jared Bednar Crystal Clear
The Avalanche made their priorities plain before facing the Kings, locking in Jared Bednar with a four-season contract extension and removing any doubt about where the organization stands on its coach. Bednar has been behind Colorados bench since 2016, and his run has included the franchises Stanley Cup breakthrough in the 2021-22 season, the kind of success that tends to buy a long runway in Denver.
Colorados timing also says plenty. Announcing the deal shortly before puck drop against Los Angeles gave the club a chance to underline continuity at a moment when every contender is trying to keep its window open. Bednar has already shown he can guide this group to the top, and now the Avalanche have signaled they want that partnership to keep rolling well beyond this season. [Read more 🡒]
