South Bay Lakers Dominate Legends After Extended Break

South Bay Lakers dominate the Texas Legends with a commanding performance, setting the stage for a strong playoff push in the G League.

After an eight-day breather, the South Bay Lakers stormed into the Comerica Center in the Dallas-Ft. Worth Metroplex, ready to face the Texas Legends. With the G League postseason on the horizon, the Lakers are eager to rack up wins, and Friday's performance was a step in the right direction.

South Bay came out firing, putting up an impressive 37 points in the first quarter and securing a commanding 66-45 lead by halftime. The Lakers maintained their momentum, extending their lead to as much as 26 points in the fourth quarter, ultimately sealing a 127-105 victory. Their dominance was evident in the stats: a plus-10 advantage in rebounds, a plus-seven edge in fast-break points, and a solid 51.1% shooting from the field, while holding Texas to just 37.7%.

Drew Timme was the standout performer, leading the charge with 25 points on 11-of-20 shooting, alongside eight rebounds and four assists. Rookie forward Adou Thiero, a second-round pick from the 2025 NBA Draft, was nearly flawless, sinking all but one of his eight attempts, finishing with 19 points and seven rebounds. The bench was equally impressive, with Malik Williams, Arthur Kaluma, Anton Watson, and Augustas Marčiulionis all scoring in double figures.

Bronny James contributed significantly in his 27 minutes on the floor, posting 13 points, five rebounds, five assists, one steal, and two blocks, showcasing his all-around game.

This victory boosts South Bay's record to 12-8, positioning them in fifth place in the Western Conference. As they continue their push towards the playoffs, performances like this one will be crucial in solidifying their postseason aspirations.
