James Harden is making his pitch for one of the biggest free-agent stories in basketball: LeBron James back in Cleveland.
LeBron is back at the center of the offseason conversation after once again becoming the biggest name on the market, just like he did in 2010. He is 41, but he remains a top-tier player and should still be able to help whichever team lands him later this offseason.
Harden, who is also a free agent, says he wants to see LeBron return home. Even after declining his player option with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Harden appears to be nudging the idea of teaming up with him in Cleveland.
The Cavaliers have reasons to believe they can keep building. They reached the Eastern Conference Finals in the 2026 Playoffs, and while they were swept, they also got through their earlier opponents in a difficult series. With the same core in place, Cleveland has a solid base to work from.
Still, there’s room for a move that changes the picture, especially with a hole at small forward. LeBron could fit that spot, and even at this stage of his career, he remains productive. That was on display in his final postseason run with the Los Angeles Lakers, where he was impressive again.
At Fanatics Fest, Harden made his case plainly: "I hope he comes to Cleveland. It's a perfect storybook finish.
He's at home, you know, for his last year. But he's smart enough.
I don't think anybody's pitch is going to move him. You know what I mean?
So wherever he decides, the team's gonna be a lot better," Harden said about LeBron potentially joining the Cavs at Fanatics Fest.
If LeBron does choose Cleveland for a third stint, it would set up the kind of ending that feels built for a legend. And if it leads to another championship run with the Cavaliers, it would only deepen the legacy on both sides.

LeBron Just Made A Cavaliers Return Feel Much Bigger
LeBron James has already turned every hint about his future into league-wide news, and his latest interaction only added to the intrigue. The possibility that he has one or two more seasons left changes the way any return to Cleveland has to be viewed, because it is no longer just about a sentimental finish line. It becomes a real basketball project, one that could stretch across multiple seasons and shape how the Cavaliers think about their next move.
For Cleveland, that matters because a return would not be a one-off reunion, but the kind of commitment that asks the front office to map out a longer runway around a veteran star. James has not made any official decision, and nothing is signed or settled, but the idea alone raises the stakes for a franchise that knows what his presence can mean. If this is truly the final chapter, the Cavaliers have to consider how much bigger it could be than a farewell tour. [Read more 🡒]
Meleek Thomas Gave Cavs Fans A Real Reason To Keep Watching
Meleek Thomas gave Clevelands Summer League finale a jolt in a 100-91 win over Chicago, flashing the kind of scoring pop that can make these August games worth the watch. The Cavaliers got useful contributions from Riley Minix, Malaki Branham and TreVon Spillers as well, but Thomas was the one who kept bending the game with his ability to create space and finish at the rim.
What made the performance stand out was how he settled in after a rough start and then found a rhythm that Chicago never quite solved. Donovan Atwell led the Bulls with 22 points, but Thomas kept finding cleaner looks and more comfortable lanes as the game went on, leaving Cleveland with a promising final note and a little more intrigue around what comes next for him.
