Isaiah Mobleys Next Career Move Will Catch Cavs Fans Attention

As Isaiah Mobley joins Spain's Basquet Manresa and Josh Hart eyes a role with Napoli Basket, the evolving dynamics of international basketball continue to reshape player careers and team strategies.

Isaiah Mobley is heading back overseas, and this time the destination is Spain.

Basquet Manresa announced Tuesday that it has signed the older brother of Cavaliers big man Evan Mobley. Isaiah Mobley, a 6-foot-9 forward, was taken by Cleveland with the 49th pick in the 2022 NBA draft and has appeared in 23 regular season games for the Cavaliers and Sixers from 2022-25. He has not been in the NBA since his contract with Philadelphia expired at the end of the 2024/25 season.

Mobley spent last season overseas, splitting time with Manisa Basket in Turkey and Hapoel Jerusalem in Israel. Now he joins a Manresa club that badly needs a spark in Liga ACB play. The Spanish team is off to an 0-6 start, the only one of the league’s 18 teams still searching for its first win.

There was also movement, or at least near-movement, elsewhere in the international game. Former NBA lottery pick Killian Hayes came close to landing with Maccabi Tel Aviv as the Israeli team looked for help in the backcourt, but the deal never got over the line, head coach Oded Kattash said this week.

Per Nikola Miloradovic of Eurohoops, relaying reporting from Sport5, Kattash said, “We were very close to (signing) Killian Hayes. We agreed to all his conditions, but it didn’t happen.

We really wanted him,” Kattash said, per Sport5. “I hope we can bring someone in quickly.

We need it.” Maccabi is trying to replace former Sun Gabriel Lundberg, who is sidelined with a quad injury.

Josh Hart may also have a bigger international role on the horizon. In a recent conversation with Valeria Rubino of VSport TV, the Knicks forward suggested he could soon take on a formal position with Napoli Basket.

“This summer, I got a little more active with that organization,” Hart said, adding that he has visited Naples several times. “In time, when things are final, set and done, we’ll talk more about it.

I’ll let (team owner and president) Matt (Rizzetta) talk about that. I got love for them, the thing that they’re building there.

The team, new arena. There are a lot of big things coming there and I’m excited about it.”

Napoli Basket is currently in the EuroCup and hopes to move up to the EuroLeague or NBA Europe in the future.

The NBA, meanwhile, has answered questions from two U.S. senators about its partnership with Rwanda and dictator Paul Kagame. According to Mark Fainaru-Wada of ESPN, deputy commissioner Mark Tatum pointed to the removal of the military-funded Armée Patriotique Rwandaise team from the Basketball Africa League as proof the league has changed its approach in the country. “Going forward, we will continue to adjust to changed circumstances as U.S. policy requires,” Tatum wrote in his letter.

Cavaliers Just Stole A Useful Frontcourt Addition From A Rival

Norchad Omier is heading into another NBA opportunity, and this one is coming with a different team than expected. According to NBA insider Michael Scotto, the big man changed his mind about signing a two-way contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves and now plans to join the Cavaliers on a similar deal, giving Cleveland a low-risk frontcourt addition with some pro experience already behind him.

Omier has already spent time in training camp with Minnesota and has also had NBA and G League stops, including a stint with the Clippers, so this is not a total unknown for a team looking to add depth up front. For Cleveland, it is the kind of move that can quietly matter over the long season, while for Omier it is another chance to carve out a foothold in the league and prove he belongs. [Read more 🡒]

LeBron Just Reignited A Kyrie Debate Cavaliers Fans Know Well

LeBron James has a way of turning old Cavaliers debates back into fresh ones, and his latest comments did exactly that. The former Cleveland partners built one of the most memorable stretches in franchise history, pairing LeBrons all-around dominance with Kyrie Irvings shot-making on the way to the 2016 NBA championship, the high-water mark for a team that still measures itself against that title run.

Irving is now with the Dallas Mavericks, while LeBron moved on again this offseason by signing a two-year deal with the Philadelphia 76ers. Even with their careers headed in different directions, their Cleveland connection remains impossible to separate from how fans judge both players, and the renewed conversation around Irvings place in NBA history is only going to keep that bond in the spotlight. Meleek Thomas Is Giving The Cavs A New Rotation Question

Meleek Thomas has turned a quiet start into one of the more interesting early developments around Clevelands rotation. The 34th pick in the 2026 NBA Draft has looked comfortable from the jump, bringing confidence, shot-making and a willingness to fit in alongside established options like Donovan Mitchell and James Harden. For a team always balancing immediate expectations with long-term development, that kind of early pop from a young guard is hard to ignore.

What makes it more intriguing is how quickly Thomas has forced the conversation. His early scoring has given the Cavaliers another perimeter option to think about, even if it is still far too soon to know whether this is the start of something lasting or just a strong opening stretch. Either way, Cleveland has a new backcourt wrinkle to monitor, and the next few games should say a lot about how real this early momentum is. [Read more 🡒]
