Cleveland Cavaliers Unveil Stunning New Training Facility Interior Plans

Cavaliers Unveil Plans for State-of-the-Art Facility Redefining Sports Performance and Community Impact

CLEVELAND - The Cleveland Cavaliers, in partnership with Cleveland Clinic and Bedrock, have revealed the latest interior renderings of the upcoming Cleveland Clinic Global Peak Performance Center. Slated to be a game-changer in sports training facilities, this state-of-the-art complex is taking shape along the Cuyahoga River in downtown Cleveland.

Spanning an impressive 210,000 square feet, this facility is set to become one of the world's most advanced sports performance hubs and the largest indoor practice venue for any professional sports team in the U.S. The Cavaliers are gearing up to make this their new home by February 2027.

Crafted by the renowned architectural firm Populous, with interiors designed by Pophouse, the center will boast multiple basketball courts, cutting-edge training areas, and a host of amenities aimed at enhancing player wellness and performance.

The newly unveiled renderings showcase some exciting features. Imagine community dining and nutrition zones, a seamless recovery corridor linking hydrotherapy pools with a recovery suite, and even an on-site barbershop, all designed to foster daily readiness and team camaraderie.

Cavaliers President of Basketball Operations, Koby Altman, shared his enthusiasm: “We believe Cleveland is one of the premier destinations for professional basketball in the country and this facility elevates that distinction even further. Every detail of the Cleveland Clinic Global Peak Performance Center was purposefully designed to fuel excellence-equipping our players with resources, innovation, and competitive edge required to pursue championships and help define the future of the game.”

Construction kicked off in October 2024, reaching a significant milestone with a topping-off ceremony in July 2025. The project has seen nearly 520 tradespeople contribute over 200,000 labor hours, surpassing community and economic goals by involving minority-, female-, local-, and low-income-owned contractors.

But this facility isn't just for the Cavaliers. It's set to become a community asset, with Cleveland Clinic planning to offer a range of sports performance and medical services to athletes of all ages. From injury prevention to nutrition and recovery, public access to specific treatment and performance areas is expected to begin in August 2027.

This development marks the first major vertical project within The Riverfront, Bedrock’s ambitious redevelopment of underutilized land near Tower City Center. Envisioned as a vibrant district, plans include new public parks, a riverwalk, and year-round waterfront amenities.

"The Riverfront Cleveland is a transformational, mixed-use development reimagining 35 acres of underutilized land and the historic Tower City Center along the Cuyahoga River," Bedrock explains. The master plan encompasses 3.5 million square feet, featuring 12 acres of publicly accessible spaces like parks, plazas, trails, and a 3,000-foot riverwalk.

This initiative is a key element of Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb's Shore-to-Core-to-Shore (SCS) development strategy, aiming to connect Cleveland’s core downtown with its waterfronts through a network of urban spaces.

Mayor Bibb has expressed optimism, stating that Bedrock’s vision for the Cuyahoga Riverfront redevelopment is a pivotal step towards realizing Cleveland's potential as an "18-hour, 15-minute city."
