Cavs players spent the weekend moving around Cleveland and showing up for the city’s football scene, with several names turning up at both a high school matchup and Browns game.
Friday night brought a notable crew to the Walsh-Archbishop Hoban football game. Donovan Mitchell was there, as he has been around local sports since arriving in Cleveland in the fall of 2022, but he was joined by three other Cavaliers: Thomas Bryant, Tyrese Proctor and James Harden.

The team is getting ready to head to Spain, where training camp is set to begin on Wed. Sep 30, so this gave the group one more chance to take in a local game before leaving.
Harden and Proctor were also seen tossing the football around, and while nobody is about to confuse any of them with Kevin Love, the throwing motion looked more than serviceable. Harden, listed at 6’6, would even make an interesting Browns depth-chart thought experiment.
The weekend support didn’t stop with high school football. Harden showed up again for the Browns’ game yesterday and even shouted out Deshaun Watson after the win in a video.
Mario Hezonja also popped up from the stadium on social media. Hezonja, who is set for his first NBA stint since 2019-20, appears to be settling in quickly and soaking up Cleveland life.
For a city that keeps its teams connected across sports, this all fit the usual pattern. The weekend was a good one for the 216 overall, with the Guardians clinching an ALDS berth and division title on Saturday and the Browns picking up a second straight win.
