The Cavaliers have a new uniform reveal coming, and the date is already on the calendar: Sept. 15.
Cleveland announced the news in what amounted to an announcement-before-the-announcement announcement, confirming that a fresh City Edition set is on the way. The team is in the NBA, after all, so a new round of alternate looks was always going to be part of the deal.
The whole City Edition thing can be hard to keep straight. There are throwbacks, regular uniforms and whatever else gets rolled out along the way, and the line between them can blur fast. But the bigger picture is simple enough: these jerseys exist, and there are a lot of them.
Zach Weiss of Across the Cavs and Cavs on SI offered a positive read on the recent run of Cavs City Editions.
“There has been mixed reception to the new Cavs City Editions over the past few years,” Weiss wrote. “Ask this writer though, and they’ve all done well to be unique.
These colors have not been what one may expect, but they have looked sensational with the matching courts. The orange in 2025-26 was especially neat because the team wore uniforms of that color from 1983-87.”
That gives the new release a little more intrigue, even if the details are still limited. For now, Sept. 15 is the date to watch.
There is, however, one wrinkle: another media member has said this could actually be the release date for the Cavs’ NBA Cup uniforms instead of the City Editions. Either way, something new is coming, and the uniform cycle rolls on.
