Cavaliers Still Havent Solved One Key Problem

Cleveland Cavaliers face a pivotal test entering the playoffs, as their star-studded lineup struggles to find cohesion and define roles amid recent roster changes.

With the NBA Playoffs just around the corner, the Cleveland Cavaliers are navigating uncharted waters. Their top four players-James Harden, Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley, and Jarrett Allen-haven't logged enough minutes together to even qualify for lineup data on NBA.com. It's a scenario that’s as unusual as it is intriguing for a team with championship aspirations.

The Cavaliers' lack of film and data could be a double-edged sword. On one hand, it might give them an element of surprise, leaving opponents guessing. On the other, it means the Cavs themselves are still figuring out their optimal game plan with their "Big 4" all active.

As they head into the playoffs, the Cavaliers are in a race against time to define their identity. We know Harden will be the maestro of the offense, likely setting up Allen for success.

Mitchell has a track record of elevating his game in the postseason, and Mobley’s role in protecting the paint will be crucial. Yet, how these elements will mesh under playoff pressure remains anyone’s guess.

And who doesn’t love a good mystery?

However, Tuesday’s game against the Lakers raised some eyebrows. It was the first time in weeks that the Cavs were at full strength, and the result was less than stellar-a 14-point loss that wasn’t even that close.

Mobley struggled to make an impact, Mitchell was limited to just 10 points, and Harden’s passivity was noticeable. It was a rough outing, to say the least.

Despite this hiccup, there’s reason for optimism. The Cavs boast a 15-6 record when Harden suits up, a promising sign even if it mostly came without the full lineup. Since Harden joined on February 9th, Allen, Mitchell, and Mobley have all missed games, leaving their collective time on the court scant.

There’s no reason to doubt that this talented group can find its rhythm. Mitchell finally has an elite playmaker in Harden, and both Mobley and Allen should benefit from the attention Harden commands, even at 36.

Still, it’s understandable if Cavs fans are feeling a bit anxious. After all, they’re heading into their most significant postseason in a decade without truly knowing how their stars will gel when it matters most.
