Austin Carr is staying in the Cavaliers’ broadcast mix after all.
Rock Entertainment Sports Network announced Saturday that Carr will be part of the full crew for the 2026-27 season, alongside John Michael, Brad Daugherty, Serena Winters and Cayleigh Griffin. That update clears up the uncertainty that followed the Cavs’ original broadcast announcement last week, when Carr’s name was left out.
When Cleveland revealed its new broadcast arrangement with DAZN on Tuesday, it specifically listed Michael, Daugherty, Winters and Griffin among the voices making the move. Carr was not included, which naturally raised the question of whether his long run on Cavs television had ended.
Now the answer is in: it hasn’t.
Carr, 78, has been connected to Cavs broadcasts for decades, and he remains tied to the organization beyond his TV work. The former No. 1 overall draft pick spent nine seasons with Cleveland and has had his No. 34 retired by the franchise.
He’s still one of the most familiar voices in the Cavs’ orbit, too.
According to the broadcast listing, Carr will serve primarily as a pregame and postgame analyst, which means his main job will be in the studio rather than beside John Michael for every game. That said, his presence during games isn’t off the table. He filled a similar role last season, occasionally stepping in for Daugherty or joining Daugherty and Michael in a three-man booth.
So the setup is changing, from the network arrangement to the way the games are distributed. But Cavs fans will still hear some of the old AC flavor mixed in.
And yes, there should still be room for a little “Get that weak stuff outta here.”
