Day 15 of Cleveland Browns training camp ended with Todd Monken clearly fed up, but the temperature had already been rising before the final whistle. Tuesday, August 18 brought a practice that featured some work on special teams, a handful of injury updates, and another reminder that Denzel Ward still looks like a problem for opposing quarterbacks.
The day’s early focus was on a drill where defenders worked on diving for potential field goal blocks. That was part of the on-field menu before practice turned into a mess at the end.
The flare-up came when DT Adin Huntington put a hit on RB Quinshon Judkins. Monken reportedly responded by pulling Huntington out of the drill, then bringing the entire team together while throwing around some f bombs.
Practice was shut down with about 15 minutes still left on the clock. Even though the contact itself looked innocent, the defender getting too close to the quarterback bubble may have been enough to set him off.
There were also several notable names moving in and out of action. LB Carson Schwesinger remained out.
DT Mike Hall was back and making his presence felt, while DE Alex Wright also returned. DE Isaiah McGuire was spotted speaking with trainers during practice.
The offensive line shuffled a bit, too. RT Tytus Howard was not working, which opened the door for OT Dawand Jones to get reps there.
Luke Wypler stayed at center with OL Elgton Jenkins still out. OL KT Leveston was back at tackle work again, but he later limped into the fieldhouse with a trainer.
On the field, Ward once again showed why he draws that kind of respect. QB Deshaun Watson tried to test him deep to WR Denzel Boston, and Ward got a hand on the ball to break it up. Watson later found a much easier target when WR Isaiah Bond got loose for another touchdown.

Shedeur Sanders Just Put New Pressure On The Browns QB Battle
Shedeur Sanders got his first preseason work with the Browns and, as usual in August, every snap felt bigger because of what it means for the quarterback room. He finished 6 of 11 for 79 yards and an interception, giving Cleveland a glimpse of both the promise and the growing pains that come with a young passer trying to carve out a role in a crowded competition.
The interception was the kind of play that tends to linger in a quarterback battle, especially when the decision-making looked sound but the result still went the wrong way. Sanders admitted afterward that the ball slipped on him, leaving the Browns with another data point to weigh as the preseason moves along and the pressure on the position keeps building. Browns Just Revealed A Stadium Vision Fans Will Be Debating
Construction is now underway on the Browns new stadium project in Brook Park, and the scope alone makes it one of the biggest talking points in the franchises next chapter. The fully enclosed dome, set to cost between $2.4 billion and $2.6 billion, is scheduled to open for the 2029 NFL season and is being designed to hold 67,500 fans.
The vision goes well beyond a standard modern venue. The stadium is planned to sit in an 80-foot-deep hole, topped by a transparent folded-plate roof and a steeply sloped Dawg Pound section modeled after European soccer supporter stands, with a 50-foot video board looming above it. It is the kind of design that will excite some fans and leave others debating whether Cleveland is building a football cathedral or something far more unconventional. [Read more 🡒]
