Myles Garrett Trade Buzz Suddenly Shifts To NFC

Amid swirling trade rumors, a Browns insider raises doubts about Myles Garrett's future as NFC teams emerge as potential suitors.

On the same day that rumors swirled about Myles Garrett's future with the Cleveland Browns, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the team is adamant about keeping their star pass-rusher. A source from the Browns echoed this sentiment, stating emphatically, "We ain’t trading Myles."

However, not everyone is convinced. Tony Grossi, a well-respected Browns insider, raised eyebrows by questioning the team's assurances. The recent adjustment to Garrett's contract, specifically the timing of option bonuses, has added fuel to the speculation fire.

Garrett's Influence on His Future

Back in February 2025, Garrett made headlines with a trade request. Fast forward, and he’s secured a lucrative four-year, $160 million extension with $123.5 million guaranteed and a no-trade clause. This no-trade clause gives Garrett significant leverage, as the Browns would need his approval to send him elsewhere.

Grossi pointed out, "They’d need to negotiate with Super Bowl contenders to get Garrett to waive that clause." Plus, it would be strategic to focus on NFC teams, avoiding potential playoff showdowns in the AFC.

Potential Destinations for Garrett

Grossi linked Garrett to several NFC powerhouses: the Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles, Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, and San Francisco 49ers. These teams not only have the draft capital but also the competitive edge to entice Garrett. The Cowboys, for instance, pulled off a blockbuster trade last summer, acquiring two first-round picks and Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kenny Clark for Micah Parsons.

The Eagles and Lions have been in the mix for Garrett before, while the Cowboys and Bears were eyeing Maxx Crosby before a failed physical nixed his trade to the Ravens.

Trading Garrett could provide the Browns with a treasure trove of draft picks, a tempting prospect as owner Jimmy Haslam eyes funding for a new $2.5 billion indoor stadium in Brook Park.

For now, Garrett's future remains a hot topic, and until he publicly commits to staying, the rumor mill will keep churning.
