Myles Garrett, a two-time Defensive Player of the Year, continues to be a beacon of hope for the Cleveland Browns, even as the team struggles to find its footing. The Browns wrapped up the 2025 season with a 5-12 record, landing at the bottom of the AFC North and missing the playoffs for the second year running. Yet, Garrett's standout performance earned him the Defensive Player of the Year honors, underscoring his immense impact on the field.
In a recent chat on Bleacher Report's podcast, Garrett shared his aspirations with Packers linebacker Micah Parsons. When asked about his future goals, Garrett didn't hesitate: "Super Bowl. Super Bowl MVP," he declared, setting his sights on the ultimate prize.
Drafted first overall by the Browns in 2017, Garrett has been a cornerstone of the franchise. Over nine seasons, he's racked up 412 total tackles, 125.5 sacks, and 149 tackles for loss. Despite these impressive numbers, playoff success has eluded him, with just two postseason appearances, the last being a wild-card loss to the Texans in 2023.
Following a disappointing 2025 campaign, the Browns made a coaching change, parting ways with Kevin Stefanski after six seasons and bringing in former Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken. Garrett, now entering his 10th season, is locked in with the Browns on a four-year, $160 million deal signed last March, ensuring his presence as a defensive stalwart.
Reflecting on Garrett's remarkable career, former Browns defensive line coach Tosh Lupoi praised him on Adam Breneman's podcast. Lupoi, who coached Garrett during the 2019 season, lauded his work ethic and unique abilities.
"Coaching Myles Garrett was awesome," Lupoi said, highlighting Garrett's exceptional athleticism and dedication. "What stands out with these so-called freaks is their consistent approach to outworking opponents."
Lupoi, who moved on to become the head coach of the Golden Bears, emphasized that it's this relentless drive that defines successful careers. Garrett's journey with the Browns continues to inspire, as he remains a pivotal figure in their quest for greatness.
