JD Vance's Bengals Visit Came With Surprise Twist

Joe Burrow's comments on a missed chance to meet Vice President JD Vance have sparked renewed debate over his political stance and the interaction of sports and politics in the locker room.

Joe Burrow wasn’t part of the Bengals’ brief brush with Vice President JD Vance on Wednesday, and the quarterback kept his comments as cool as the moment itself.

Vance showed up at the Bengals’ first practice of the week at Kettering Health practice fields, arriving around 2:15 p.m. local time, according to The Athletic. But the visit didn’t unfold like a typical VIP stop. In an 18-second clip, nearly the entire team is seen walking past Vance as he stood near the locker room waiting for players.

After practice, Burrow was asked about the scene and said he never met Vance. “We did not.

We did not. He came with everybody and left with swiftness and efficiency before the end of practice.

So I didn’t get to,” he told reporters.

Burrow then shifted the focus away from the awkward moment and toward the bigger picture of why people show up to watch the Bengals in the first place. “Yeah, a lot of people.

A lot of people around. That’s what I love about what I do is it brings a lot of people together, and people want to take time out of their day to come and watch what we do, watch what I do, and watch all the work that I’ve put in to come and watch greatness.

And that’s everybody in the locker room. That’s why we do what we do, and whether it’s on the TV, whether it’s in person, whether it’s on the practice field, that’s what we do.”

That answer quickly stirred speculation online about Burrow’s political views, especially after he spoke up for the Black community in 2020 and supported abortion rights in 2022. Still, not everyone read the exchange that way.

“Now THAT? is a f-ing boss. A true LEADER,” one person said.

“What a diplomatic answer!” another said.

“Politely saying ‘I don’t give a dam about JD Vance,'” another wrote.

“Joe Burrow really said Vance came, saw, and left before the meet-and-greet DLC unlocked. At least somebody got a quick exit,” someone said.

“Umm who cares what he says or think - dude is a complete dumb dumb!” one said.

The Bengals enter Week 7 at 3-2 and are coming off their Week 5 win over the Miami Dolphins. They’ll next face the Baltimore Ravens.

Browns Suddenly Have A New Injury Concern Before Titans Game

The Browns Week 7 injury report already has a little of everything on it, and the most notable name to watch is Quincy Williams. The linebacker sat out practice because of a neck injury as Cleveland worked through its preparations for Tennessee, while Grant Delpit was back on the field in a limited role after clearing the concussion-related step that had kept him sidelined.

Beyond those two, the list was crowded with familiar maintenance-day and status-check names, from Carson Schwesinger and Elgton Jenkins to Mason Graham, KC Concepcion, Quinshon Judkins and Dylan Sampson. For a Browns team trying to get settled before facing the Titans, the bigger issue is less the length of the report than how many key contributors still need to make it through the week without another surprise. Browns Defense Suddenly Has A Big Week 7 Problem

The Browns are heading into Week 7 with more uncertainty on defense than they would like this time of year. Quincy Williams sat out practice because of a neck injury, Mason Graham has already missed the past two games while working through knee and ankle issues, and Grant Delpit is still in concussion protocol as Cleveland gets ready to face the Titans.

For a unit that has been one of the clearest pillars of the team, the timing is less than ideal. Cleveland has not yet offered any update on how any of those situations might play out for Sunday, leaving the Browns to navigate a short week with several key defenders in limbo. [Read more 🡒]

Browns Could Make A Bold Move To Fix Their Biggest Offensive Hole

The Browns have opened the 2026 season with a 4-2 record, but the offense still has an obvious soft spot, and its at tight end. Cleveland has gotten enough out of the roster to stay in the mix early, yet the search for more dependable production in the passing game remains part of the conversation as the schedule starts to tighten.

Sam LaPorta has become a name to watch after publicly expressing frustration about not getting a contract extension and then missing a recent media session with the Lions. For a Browns team looking for a way to upgrade a clear weakness, that kind of situation naturally creates trade speculation, even if any real movement would still have to make sense for both sides.
