Could the Cleveland Browns be gearing up for a complete overhaul of their offensive line this season? It's a bold move, but the clues are all there. The Browns' list of free agents includes some big names: OG Wyatt Teller, OG Joel Bitonio, C Ethan Pocic, OT Jack Conklin, OG Teven Jenkins, and OT Cam Robinson.
Conklin’s injury history, Robinson's struggles, and Teller's farewell to Cleveland hint at significant changes. Bitonio might be hanging up his cleats, and while Pocic could stay, Jenkins would be a welcome fresh face on the roster.
Looking internally, the Browns have several under-contract players: LT Dawand Jones, RG Zak Zinter, C Kendrick Green, LT Jeremiah Byers, C Luke Wypler, RT KT Leveston, C Justin Osboure, OG Jack Conley, OT Tyre Phillips, and C Kingsley Eguakun. Conley and Phillips are on reserve/futures contracts.
The potential departure of Pocic could be a concern. Despite not having Pro Bowl or All-Pro accolades in his nine-year career, his reliability has been crucial for the Browns. His Pro Football Focus (PFF) grade was 63.8 in 2025, placing him 20th among 40 centers, with only two penalties and two sacks allowed.
Wypler is a key contender for the starting center role. Drafted in the sixth round in 2023, he started five games last season with 272 snaps.
However, his run blocking grades were lacking, and he had six penalties and five pressures allowed. An ankle injury in 2024 sidelined him for the season.
Is Wypler the solution? Or could another player step up during training camp? The Browns might also consider bringing in a seasoned veteran.
Enter Tyler Linderbaum.
Currently with the Baltimore Ravens, Linderbaum stands at 6’2”, weighing 305 pounds, and was a first-round pick in 2022. His accolades include two-time First Team All-Big 10, Big 10 Offensive Lineman of the Year, and a Rimington Trophy. He’s also made the NFL All-Rookie Team and three consecutive Pro Bowls.
Linderbaum's college career at Iowa showcased his durability and skill, starting 36 games in a competitive conference. Known for his consistency and technical prowess, he rarely misses snaps.
The Browns signing Linderbaum would be a major coup. Although the Ravens didn't exercise his fifth-year option due to financial reasons, his next contract won't come cheap. He's ranked #3 in this year’s free agency market, just behind DE Trey Hendrickson and WR George Pickens.
In 2025, Linderbaum was the fifth-highest graded center with an 83.7 run-blocking grade. He allowed two sacks and recorded five penalties and 26 pressures.
Could the Browns sign him? The price tag is hefty, which is why the Ravens are hesitant. However, Linderbaum has a connection with Cleveland's new head coach, Todd Monken, who was his offensive coordinator.
Linderbaum’s quick stance, technical skill, and athleticism make him a standout. His wrestling background gives him leverage and strength, essential traits for a top-tier center.
The Browns might opt to stick with Wypler or another in-house option, or perhaps re-sign Pocic. But if they decide to make a splash and sign Linderbaum, they’d solidify the center of their offensive line for years to come.
