Browns HC Todd Monken Reunites With Familiar Face for 2026 Staff Shakeup

Todd Monkens reshaping of the Browns offensive staff includes a familiar face returning to Cleveland in a key position.

The winds of change are blowing through Cleveland, and new Browns head coach Todd Monken isn’t wasting any time putting his stamp on the offensive side of the ball. With the 2025 season in the rearview mirror, Monken is reshaping the coaching staff, signaling a clear shift in direction for a team looking to retool and recharge.

Let’s rewind for a second. At season’s end, the Browns' offensive staff featured some familiar faces: Kevin Stefanski was still wearing the headset as head coach, Tommy Rees was calling plays as offensive coordinator, and Chad O’Shea led the wide receivers. The rest of the offensive unit included names like Mike Bloomgren on the offensive line, Bill Musgrave with the quarterbacks, and Duce Staley handling the running backs.

But heading into this week, none of those coaches have been confirmed to return, and Monken appears to be turning the page. While some assistants remain available should he choose to retain them for continuity, the early moves suggest a fresh start is the priority.

So far, here’s how the new-look offensive staff is shaping up:

  • Travis Switzer steps in as offensive coordinator
  • George Warhop takes over the offensive line
  • Daniel Stern joins as associate head coach
  • Ian Kolste comes aboard for offensive quality control
  • Mike Bajakian will coach quarterbacks
  • Danny Breyer is the new pass game coordinator

And now, according to reports, Jeff Blasko is returning to Cleveland as the team’s tight ends coach.

Blasko’s return is a reunion of sorts. He had a previous stint in Cleveland back in 2019 as an assistant offensive line coach before moving on to Dallas, where he spent five seasons.

In that time, he climbed the coaching ranks - from assistant offensive line coach (2020-22) to run game coordinator and running backs coach (2023-24). That kind of versatility is exactly what Monken seems to be assembling: coaches with broad experience and the ability to adapt across multiple positions.

Before his time in Dallas, Blasko also spent three seasons in Green Bay, working the offensive line. And long before the NFL came calling, he was grinding it out at the college level - from Akron to Florida, Kansas, and Penn - coaching everything from tight ends to quality control. He even started at the high school level in Pennsylvania, laying the foundation for a coaching career that’s now come full circle.

One interesting connection? Like Switzer and Breyer, Blasko also has ties to the University of Akron, where he earned a master’s degree in sports administration. That shared background may hint at a bit of common philosophy or chemistry Monken is looking to build within his staff.

The Browns typically hold off on officially announcing their full staff until closer to the NFL Combine, but the direction is already clear. Monken is assembling a group with deep experience, positional flexibility, and a track record of development - all key ingredients for an offense that’s aiming to turn the page and take a step forward.

Stay tuned - more names are likely to surface as Monken continues shaping the coaching identity of the 2026 Cleveland Browns.
