Browns Got Exposed In Pittsburgh Where It Hurts Most

In a game where the Pittsburgh Steelers exploited the Cleveland Browns' vulnerabilities, the visiting team was unable to find their offensive footing, losing 10-0 and showcasing significant struggles on both sides of the ball.

The Browns spent the week talking, and the Steelers spent Sunday backing it up.

Pittsburgh jumped out to a 10-0 lead and never let Cleveland get comfortable in a frustrating loss that featured a miserable start, a battered offense and another day when the Browns simply couldn’t solve the run game. Deshaun Watson and the offense never found the end zone, and the first two Browns possessions both ended in fumbles.

That early mess set the tone for everything that followed. Cleveland managed just 34 rushing yards, while the Steelers rolled up 200 on the ground. Jaylen Warren was the engine, pounding out 143 yards on 17 carries and giving the Browns defense no answers.

Once the run game disappeared, the burden shifted heavily onto Watson, and that only made things worse. He was sacked eight times, with Pittsburgh getting pressure on nearly every dropback and forcing Cleveland into a passing game that never really had a chance to breathe.

The final margin could have looked even uglier. The Steelers settled for field goals on two early drives that could have become touchdowns, and DK Metcalf also had a potential big play slip away when he bobbled a catch into the arms of Denzel Ward.

Even with the loss, Cleveland has made a habit of hanging around in 2026. Watson and the Browns have been comeback specialists this season, including last week against the Tennessee Titans. But Pittsburgh is operating at a different level right now, and the Steelers moved to 6-2 with the win.

There was also a brief Shedeur Sanders appearance in 2026. He entered for a series while Watson was being checked on the sideline, completed two short passes, and then watched Watson return after being cleared.

The brightest spot for Cleveland came from Harold Fannin Jr., who turned in a career day with 10 catches for 154 yards. A good chunk of that production came late, but the tight end still showed why he can be such a difference-maker when the offense leans on him.

Now the Browns turn to a road trip against the 2-5 New Orleans Saints, who are coming off their bye week. New Orleans has 602 rushing yards through seven games, so the Browns defense will be under the microscope again after another rough outing against the run.

For all the ugliness on Sunday, Cleveland did at least get the split with Pittsburgh in 2026. And in Pittsburgh, that’s no small thing for the post-1999 Browns.

Browns Get Their Biggest Test Yet In Pittsburgh After Hot Start

The Browns fast start has changed the tone around the franchise in a hurry. After an offseason that looked like it might lean toward a rebuild, Cleveland instead chose a more competitive path, and the early results have backed up that decision. At 5-2 and 2-0 in the AFC North, the Browns have given their fan base something it did not necessarily expect this soon, while also putting a spotlight on the organizations willingness to be accountable for the direction it chose.

Now comes the kind of game that can tell you a lot about whether this start is sustainable. A trip to Pittsburgh has a way of sorting out the real contenders from the teams merely riding momentum, and it arrives with Cleveland still sorting through changes on offense and the effects of several roster moves. The Steelers will offer the Browns their toughest divisional test yet, and the answer could say plenty about how far this group has actually come. [Read more 🡒]

Browns Keep Falling Into The Same Trap In AFC North Losses

The Browns latest AFC North loss followed a familiar script, with a sluggish offensive start and self-inflicted mistakes helping put them in a hole against Pittsburgh. Cleveland fell 27-6 in Week 8, and even though Deshaun Watson finished with 27 completions for 324 yards, the early turnovers and a string of penalties made it tough for the offense to ever find a rhythm.

Penalties have become a recurring problem in these division games, and this one was no exception, with taunting calls among the flags that helped stall drives and swing momentum. Cleveland now has to reset quickly for its next game against the New Orleans Saints, but the bigger issue is harder to ignore: until the Browns clean up the mistakes that keep showing up in AFC North play, the results are likely to keep looking the same. Browns Inactive List Just Clarified Clevelands QB Plan Vs Steelers

The Browns quarterback setup for Sunday against the Steelers became clearer once the inactive list came out, and it pointed to a straightforward game-day plan. Cleveland kept Dillon Gabriel inactive as the third quarterback, while Shedeur Sanders moved into the backup role behind the starter, giving the team a more defined depth chart for a divisional matchup that always carries extra weight.

Cleveland also had right tackle Tytus Howard and cornerback Myles Harden available, which helped settle two other roster questions heading into kickoff. Pittsburghs inactive list offered its own update, with wide receivers Michael Pittman Jr. and Roman Wilson both on injured reserve and Brandon Smith elevated from the practice squad, adding another layer to a game where both teams had to manage their available pieces carefully.
