Browns Face Draft Dilemma as Wyatt Teller Exits the Roster

With the departure of Wyatt Teller, the Browns are eyeing top prospect Olaivavega "Vega" Ioane to bolster their offensive line amidst looming challenges.

The Cleveland Browns are on the brink of a significant transition in their offensive line as they head into the 2026 season. With Joel Bitonio contemplating retirement and Wyatt Teller bidding farewell on social media as he enters free agency, the Browns are likely to see two new starting guards this year.

This development isn't entirely unexpected, but it certainly puts pressure on Cleveland's front office to address these vacancies. The departure of their standout right guard, Teller, leaves a noticeable gap, and the Browns must act decisively in the upcoming NFL Draft.

Enter Olaivavega "Vega" Ioane-a name that should be at the top of Cleveland's draft board. While Ioane primarily plays as a left guard, his adaptability and technical skills make him a viable candidate for either side of the line. With Bitonio also likely stepping away, Ioane's versatility becomes even more valuable.

Ioane, a former three-star recruit, stands out as the top-ranked interior offensive lineman in this year's draft class. The challenge for the Browns is their draft position.

They hold the No. 24 pick in the first round, and Ioane might not be available by then. While selecting him at No. 6 could be seen as a stretch, his potential impact might justify the move.

Ioane isn't the most athletic guard, but his blend of finesse and raw power is exceptional. His ability to neutralize bull rushes and open up running lanes is unmatched in this draft. With the Browns bringing in former Ravens offensive line coach George Warhop to work alongside new head coach Todd Monken, Ioane could be a key piece in revitalizing Cleveland's running game.

Pro Football Focus gave Ioane an impressive 80.0 grade, ranking him 13th among 684 eligible offensive guards last season. His pass-block grade of 87 placed him 21st, and he was 16th in run-blocking with a 78.6 grade. In 614 snaps, he drew just one penalty, allowed no sacks, and surrendered only four pressures-numbers that underscore his elite status.

If the Browns can secure Ioane, he has the potential to be a cornerstone of their offensive line for the next decade, providing immediate impact and long-term stability.
