South Carolina men’s basketball now knows the road in front of it.
With the SEC portion already set, Wednesday’s release of the non-conference slate finished out Lamont Paris’ 2026-27 schedule, giving the Gamecocks a full look at what comes next after a 13-19 season and a roster overhaul that brought in 12 newcomers, 11 of them transfers.
The opener arrives Nov. 3 at home against Stetson, and the SEC opener comes Jan. 2 at LSU. Tip times and TV information will be announced later.
Before the games start counting, South Carolina will also play two exhibitions. The first is Oct. 15 against Wake Forest in Rock Hill, with the second still to be announced.
A few non-conference dates jump off the page. The Gamecocks visit N.C.
State on Dec. 1 in the ACC/SEC Challenge, then head to Baltimore for a neutral-site game against Maryland. South Carolina last played N.C.
State in a regular-season game in 2007 and hasn’t faced Maryland since the 2005 NIT.
There’s also a matchup that could sneak up on USC: UT Martin on Dec. 6 at home. The Skyhawks are coming off a 22-win season.
The stretch that looks the most punishing lands in late January and early February. South Carolina will face Alabama on Jan. 19 or 20, Mississippi State on Jan.
23, Texas on Jan. 26 or 27, Oklahoma on Jan. 30 and Florida on Feb. 2 or 3. Three of those teams - Florida, Texas and Alabama - are ranked in ESPN’s Way Too Early Top 25, with Florida No.
1, Texas No. 4 and Alabama No. 16.
The early part of the schedule should be far more manageable. South Carolina’s first five games are against Stetson, Southeast Missouri, St. Peter’s, Gardner-Webb and Elon, and all five finished last season with losing records.
The annual Clemson game is set for Dec. 15 at Colonial Life Arena. Clemson beat South Carolina 93-82 last season, and the teams have split their last six meetings.
