The NFL Combine is underway in Indianapolis, and Peter Woods is making waves as a potential first-round pick. If you ask him, the best prospects come from Clemson.
Woods, a standout defensive tackle, is among nine Tigers at Lucas Oil Stadium, and his draft stock is rising fast. With impressive stats over three seasons-99 tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss, and 5.0 sacks-he's showcasing his versatility and the elite training he received under coach Nick Eason.
Woods has already engaged with 18 teams, but two AFC powerhouses, the New York Jets and Baltimore Ravens, are showing particular interest.
The New York Jets: Holding the No. 2 and No. 16 picks, the Jets put Woods through a defensive "install" session. He described it as a “great experience,” focusing on how his disruptive style fits their scheme and how he can adapt to the pro level.
The Baltimore Ravens: With the No. 14 pick, the Ravens have a history of drafting Clemson defenders. Woods is impressed by their “coach-them-hard” approach, which mirrors the intensity he experienced under Dabo Swinney and Tom Allen.
Woods hasn't officially met with the New Orleans Saints (No. 8 overall), but the idea of teaming up with former Tiger Bryan Bresee excites him. “That would be kind of a dope world-beating pairing,” Woods said, noting Bresee has been a guiding voice for him.
The big question remains whether Woods will participate in the on-field drills. Defensive linemen are set to perform Thursday from 3 to 8 p.m.
ET, but Woods is undecided. “I don’t know yet,” he said.
"I might run in my pro day. I may run tomorrow."
As the Combine unfolds, Woods' blend of talent and charisma is capturing attention, and his journey to the NFL promises to be one to watch.
