Dabo Swinney is heading into his 37th college football season, and he made sure Clemson fans heard the message loud and clear Tuesday: the wait is almost over.
At the preseason media outing, Swinney sounded like a coach who still gets energized by the grind, not worn down by it. He pointed to the milestones stacked up behind him - 24 years at Clemson and 18 as the full-time head coach - and framed it as a reminder of how quickly time moves when the work still matters.
"This is always a fun time of year," Swinney said. "For me it's I was thinking about this morning since my 37th college football season... my 24th at Clemson and my 18th as the head coach, full time.
So, man, time flies. That's all I can say.
Time flies when when you love what you do, you love where you do it, and you love who you do it with."
That kind of loyalty lands with Clemson fans, especially in a program where staying power means something. Swinney’s tone Tuesday matched the one that has long defined him in Tigertown: grateful, intense and already locked in on what comes next.
He also laid out the road to camp in plain terms. Clemson’s staff begins its all-in meetings Wednesday, and that stretch runs through the next five days. Then the players arrive August 4, followed by a couple of days of orientation and administrative work before the Tigers hit the field on the sixth.
"We start our all-in meetings tomorrow as a staff. That's between now next week.
That's about about five days," Swinney explained. "August 4, our guys will come in.
We'll have a couple days of orientation, administrative type of stuff, and then we'll be on the field on the sixth. So, lot to do, and you know, ready to ready to go do it."
Swinney said summer school has gone well and that the players have handled their academic responsibilities, which lets the program turn fully toward football. He described this part of the calendar as the third quarter of a four-quarter push, with Clemson entering what he called the prime time phase.
"Summer school has been good. You know, from an academic standpoint, guys are in the summer too now," Swinney concluded. "So just everybody's just kind of you know ready to get back out of the field and kick off this new season... all we're focused on is just doing the work."
With the offseason work largely in place and camp approaching fast, Clemson is moving into the stretch where the real work begins.

ACC Coach Sends Dabo Message Clemson Fans Should Not Ignore
At ACC Kickoff media days, Virginia Tech coach James Franklin took a moment to tip his cap to Dabo Swinney, calling attention to a friendship that has stretched beyond the sideline and into years of family connections and Nike trips. Franklin made it clear he understands the business side of college football, but he also acknowledged the respect he has for what Swinney has built at Clemson, a program that has stayed in the leagues championship conversation for years.
That kind of public praise matters because the two programs are set to meet on Oct. 24 in a game with real ACC implications. Clemson will have plenty of reasons to listen closely when a conference rival speaks that highly of Swinney, especially with the possibility that this matchup could help shape the road to the ACC Championship. Dabo Swinney Just Sent The NCAA A Message Clemson Fans Feel
Dabo Swinney says Clemson still has not heard back from the NCAA on the tampering claim it filed involving linebacker Luke Ferrelli, leaving the Tigers waiting for a ruling on a matter that has already drawn plenty of attention around the sport. Ferrellis path alone has made the situation notable, as he transferred to Clemson before eventually re-entering the portal and landing at Ole Miss, a sequence that put the case squarely in the middle of the transfer-era chaos college football keeps trying to sort out.
ACC commissioner Jim Phillips has publicly backed Clemsons position and said NCAA leadership promised the issue would be addressed, giving the Tigers some conference support as they wait. Ole Miss coach Pete Golding has brushed off the controversy and suggested tampering is simply part of the modern game, but for Clemson the unanswered question is still the one that matters most: when the NCAA finally weighs in, what will it decide? Dabo Sounds Fired Up About Clemsons New Weight Room Era
Clemson has entered a new phase in the weight room this summer, and Dabo Swinney sounds energized by the change. The Tigers are working through a demanding offseason under a fresh strength and conditioning voice, and Swinney has made it clear the intensity level has been noticeable, with players handling the grind well as they push through the program.
One of the early examples Swinney pointed to was Chris Johnson Jr., whose physical progress has stood out during the summer work. The bigger picture for Clemson is the same one that always matters in the offseason: building a tougher, more complete roster before camp opens, and the early signs from the weight room suggest the Tigers like where things are headed.
