Clemson Triumphs Over Presbyterian as South Carolina Showdown Looms

Clemson's undefeated streak continues as they prepare for a pivotal showdown against South Carolina this weekend.

In a solid display of pitching depth, six Clemson Tigers pitchers combined to stifle Presbyterian, allowing just two runs on six hits in a commanding 6-2 victory at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. This win boosts Clemson's perfect start to 8-0, while the Blue Hose fall to 2-7.

Dylan Harrison set the tone for the Tigers, delivering three scoreless innings. Eston Simpson, now 2-0 for the season, followed up with two more scoreless frames to secure the win. The bullpen was a fortress with Ariston Veasey, Peyton Miller, Brendon Bennett, and Noah Samol each contributing an inning to seal the deal.

Presbyterian's Tucker Meredith, now 0-1, took the loss on the mound.

Clemson's offense kicked into gear in the second inning. Jason Fultz Jr. got the ball rolling with an RBI single. Jarren Purify then drew a walk to bring in another run, setting the stage for Tryston McCladdie, who extended his hitting streak to 10 games with a two-run single.

The fourth inning saw Purify and Nate Savoie adding to the tally with run-scoring singles, pushing Clemson's lead to a comfortable 6-0.

Purify had an impressive day at the plate, going 2 for 3 with a double, a walk, and two RBIs. McCladdie also shone, finishing 2 for 4 with a pair of RBIs.

Presbyterian managed to get on the board in the later innings. Amman Dewberry's single in the eighth and a sacrifice fly from pinch-hitter Cam Mallo in the ninth accounted for their two runs.

Looking ahead, the Tigers are set to face South Carolina in a much-anticipated three-game series across different venues, starting February 27 at Founders Park in Columbia. Fans can catch the action on SEC Network+.
