Jake Wahlin Shines in Tough Clemson Loss
In a hard-fought battle at Winston-Salem, Clemson University's men's basketball team faced a setback, dropping their third consecutive ACC game with an 85-77 loss to Wake Forest. Despite the outcome, there were standout performances that kept fans engaged.
Jake Wahlin, hailing from Provo, Utah, delivered a stellar performance, notching a season-high 17 points and grabbing five rebounds. His effort on the court was a bright spot for the Tigers, showcasing his ability to rise to the occasion when his team needed it most. Ace Buckner also made his presence felt, contributing 13 points, four rebounds, and two assists, proving to be a reliable asset for Clemson.
The game had its share of ups and downs. Clemson found themselves in a tough spot early on, surrendering a 12-2 run to the Demon Deacons and trailing by as much as 20 points in the first half. However, the Tigers showed resilience, clawing back with a 7-0 run to cut the deficit to 13 by halftime, heading into the break down 45-32.
Carter Welling continued his impressive scoring streak, marking his fourth consecutive game in double figures with 13 points and six rebounds. His consistency has been a key factor for the Tigers throughout the season.
The second half saw Clemson making a strong push, opening with a 9-1 run to narrow the gap to just five points at 46-41. Despite their efforts, Wake Forest maintained their composure and managed to extend their lead back to 14 with just over five minutes remaining.
Looking ahead, the Tigers are set to host Florida State on Saturday, Feb. 21, at noon on The CW. With the determination and talent displayed, Clemson fans have reason to remain optimistic as the season progresses.
