Clemson Landed Seth Tillman In A Commitment Story Fans Will Feel

In a heartfelt tribute to his late father, four-star defensive lineman Seth Tillman honored his family's legacy while sealing his future with Clemson football.

Clemson’s latest commitment, four-star defensive lineman Seth Tillman, made his college choice in a moment that carried far more weight than football.

Tillman, a Rock Hill, South Carolina, native and South Pointe High School standout, committed to Clemson on July 11 during a ceremony at his school. Four days later, he shared on X that his family had already held a private commitment celebration with his father before he died.

"My family and I did a private commitment celebration with my dad before he died on last week. My dad is my hero and will forever be sketched in my heart!" Tillman wrote on his X account.

Tillman’s father, Reginald Tillman, died on July 7 at the age of 62, according to his obituary.

The ceremony itself included a video slideshow in the auditorium, and the presentation featured his father’s voice. In the video, Tillman said, "Hey Dad, thank you for everything, I've made my decision" and then, after his dad asked where he was going, a spotlight hit the table where Tillman was seated and revealed Clemson as the pick.

Tillman entered the decision with Clemson, South Carolina, Michigan and Georgia among his final options. He is ranked as the No. 3 recruit from South Carolina in the Class of 2027, No. 13 nationally at his position and No. 130 overall, according to the 247Sports Composite.

With Tillman on board, Dabo Swinney now has 25 commitments in the 2027 class. Clemson is ranked 12th nationally and second in the ACC.

Clemson Quarterback Battle Just Took A Turn Fans Have Been Waiting On

At Clemsons preseason media day, the quarterback picture got a little clearer, even if the job itself is still very much up for grabs. Offensive coordinator Chad Morris confirmed that Chris Vizzina will open fall camp as the Tigers quarterback, matching what Dabo Swinney had already said in the spring, and he pointed to a summer that kept the room moving in the right direction.

The name drawing the most attention behind Vizzina is true freshman Tait Reynolds, who Morris said has had a strong spring and summer and will push the competition through camp. For Clemson, the real decision is still ahead, with fall camp set to sort out the final depth chart and, as Morris noted, the battles not limited to quarterback alone but spread across the offense. Paul Finebaum Just Turned Up The Pressure On Dabo Swinney

Clemson has spent most of the past decade as one of college footballs standard-bearers, but the tone around the program has changed after two rough seasons that have raised real questions about where Dabo Swinney can take it next. Last years 7-6 finish was the Tigers worst record since 2010, a stunning drop for a team that entered the season with championship expectations and instead spent the fall fighting through criticism.

Paul Finebaum has only added to the noise, making clear he is skeptical that Swinney has fully answered the problems that have surfaced. The bigger issue now is whether Clemson can use this season to prove last year was a one-off stumble or something more troubling, because the next stretch of games is going to say plenty about how much of the old edge is still there.
