Clemson kept the momentum rolling from its big recruiting weekend, and this time the payoff came in the 2027 class with an in-state win.
Four-star defensive tackle Seth Tillman committed to the Tigers on Saturday afternoon, choosing Clemson over South Carolina, Michigan and Georgia. The Rock Hill, South Carolina, native gives Clemson another major piece up front and another local name for the 2027 haul.
Tillman is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 14 defensive lineman in the class and the No. 3 player in South Carolina. Rivals lists him as the No. 11 defensive lineman in the 2027 Rivals300. At 6-foot-4 and 280 pounds, he brings the kind of size Clemson has clearly prioritized on the defensive line.
This has been a long pursuit for the Tigers. Tillman was one of the first offers in the 2027 cycle, getting that Clemson offer last June.
He has been on the program’s radar for a while, and the connection only strengthened as the process went on. He was a regular at Dabo Swinney’s summer camps, and after his official visit on June 12, Clemson insider Austin Hannon predicted he would land with the Tigers.
Tillman’s recruitment had been tied heavily to Georgia through much of the offseason, but Clemson made a late push and flipped the conversation. For an in-state prospect, the choice came down to Clemson or South Carolina, and this time the Tigers won out. Tillman, a South Pointe standout, helped lead his school to a South Carolina 4A championship.
The commitment pushes Clemson to 25 pledges in the 2027 cycle. Tillman becomes the 13th defensive player in the class and gives the Tigers another top-150 type prospect who could be in the mix early once he arrives next year.
He also gives position coach Nick Eason a second defensive lineman in the group, joining Jaden Wuerth, another local product from Dutch Fork High School just outside Columbia. Together, Tillman and Wuerth make up half of Clemson’s in-state commitments, with the other two coming from D.W. Daniel High School.
Clemson already has another in-state lineman in the program in five-star Amare Adams, who finished his first season with the Tigers in 2025 and is expected to have a bigger role next season with the position opening up.

Clemsons 2027 class took a hit at linebacker when Roman Igwebuike came off the board, a notable swing in a cycle where every blue-chip target matters. The four-star from Illinois is ranked No. 134 overall and would have landed among the Tigers most highly rated pledges, adding another premium piece to a class that already sits at 25 commitments and has been building real momentum on defense.
The timing made the miss sting a little more, even with Clemson adding defensive lineman Seth Tillman around the same window. The Tigers still have a strong linebacker base in place with Bryce Kish, Max Brown and R.J.
