Clemson has made the cut for one of the early names to know in the 2028 class.
Cornerback Kahmaree Crumity revealed his Top 10 on Thursday afternoon, and the Tigers were on the list alongside Indiana, Miami, Notre Dame, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Auburn, Louisville and UCLA.
Crumity is a four-star prospect in the 247Sports Composite, where he checks in as the No. 322 overall player, the No. 34 player at his position and the No. 49 recruit in Florida. The 6-foot, 175-pound defensive back was Clemson’s eighth offer in the 2028 cycle and only the second at his position, behind four-star Domonic Williams Jr.
The Tigers’ interest in Crumity didn’t start this month, either. Clemson invited him to its 2025 game against Furman, signaling that the staff had already put him on the radar well before the recent offer came through.
Crumity first started drawing national attention after his freshman season at Gadsden County in Florida, when he posted 19 tackles, one tackle for loss, one forced fumble and half a sack. He didn’t pick up any offers during the season, but a strong spring and summer at camps changed that quickly. By the time he entered his sophomore year, he had offers from Memphis, Jacksonville State, Florida State, Western Kentucky, South Alabama, Mississippi State, Maryland and Southern Miss.
His sophomore season was the real jump. Crumity finished with 33 tackles, 10 pass breakups, six pass deflections and one interception, and the offer list kept growing with USF, Houston, FIU, Arkansas, Arkansas State and Georgia Tech joining the mix. He also made three unofficial visits to Florida State and one to Georgia during that stretch.
The momentum hasn’t slowed since the season ended. Crumity has added nearly 30 offers since the New Year, and over the last six months he has been back to Tallahassee several times while also visiting Auburn, Florida, Ole Miss, Georgia, Notre Dame, Texas A&M and South Carolina.
Ahead of his junior year, Crumity also transferred to Lincoln High School in Tallahassee, a move that comes after Gadsden County head coach Russell Ellington was given a one-year suspension in 2026 following an audit that found major rules violations involving athlete eligibility.
For now, the recruitment is still wide open. Clemson doesn’t appear to be the favorite yet, but landing in his Top 10 this early is a notable step, especially with the Tigers sitting among some of the biggest spenders in college football.
One more thing to keep in mind: Crumity and five-star Clemson commit Jamarin Simmons are very close. The two played together at Amos P. Godby and have been friends since childhood, a connection that could matter as Crumity’s recruitment keeps building.
